According to Meek, he already had a huge career building up before signing on the dotted line a couple years ago.

“Me, I don’t rely on no man in the world. I don’t think no man determines my future,” Milly said on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” in response to a Joe Budden question about Ross’ effect on the rookie MC’s career. “When I met Ross, I was onstage in front of 30,000 people and he watchin’ from the side, like, ‘Yeah, this a good investment,’ ” Meek said, referencing the annual Powerhouse concert in his native Pennsylvania, which he now performs at every year. “I was already on my train; my train was rollin’. I just jumped on a train that made sense.” (MTV)

Meek recently shared his thoughts on getting big co-signs from celebrities like Will Smith and Jay-Z.

On Oct. 10, a few more-than-notable guests stopped by a listening party for Meek Mill ‘s “Dreams & Nightmares” at New York’s Electric Lady Studios. Jay-Z and Will Smith poked their heads into the private event before the Maybach Music Group rapper previewed his album for a small crowd. By the end of the evening, producer/singer The-Dream, Philadelphia Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson, labelmate Wale and Maybach head Rick Ross had all shown up to support the 25-year-old MC. “He’s earned this himself,” Ross told the crowd. “I’m just proud of the homey.” “Dreams & Nightmares,” due Oct. 30 on Maybach/Warner Bros. Records, is only Mill’s studio debut. But the star-studded event demonstrated the buzz he already has. “Any time you see your work being recognized by some of the greatest in the game, it feels good,” says Mill, born Robert Williams. “It serves as motivation.” (Billboard)

Back in May, Ricky Rozay laced Meek with a Range Rover for his 25th birthday.

Check out some footage we got while in the City of Brotherly Love waiting to board the yacht where Meek Mill’s 25th birthday party was held this weekend. After trying to get word from the Maybach boss Rick Ross about his new single, we captured a candid moment after Ross presented his new artist keys to a brand new Range Rover. Shout out to no mileage! (The LIFE Files)

The same month, Mill joined forces with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management team.

“That’s the new deal I put together,” Meek said in an interview. “Me coming up in this rap game, I was always an underground artist coming up by myself and making all of the moves by myself. And my manager – he’s just like me, we’ve been coming up in the streets by ourselves. So we just decided to partner up with Roc Nation and take things to another level.” (Life + Times)
