[It has been about five years since we last had MC Eiht on the “Murder Master Music Show” and a lot has happened since then. I wanted to ask him about finally collaborating with his old arch nemesis the legendary DJ Quik and of course chop it up about his new album produced by DJ Premier, Which Way Iz West. Check out some of the highlights below!]

1. Finally Working W/ Longtime Nemesis DJ Quik

A lot of people have always anticipated us doing that. Our beef had been squashed for a long time. It ain’t like its ever been a thought. It’s always the right time for shit to happen and it’s only right we come together. We been seeing each other a gang of places and everything always been good. I hooked up with Problem and he constructed that! I had no idea he was gonna even be in the studio. We had a few drinks and we smoked a bit and I ended up getting on two tracks off the Rose Crans project! It was only right for us to do it and maybe do more shit in the future.

2. Early West Coast Hip-Hop

West Coast didn’t have too much sh*t! To see the first workings of Tone Loc, Young MC, JJ Fad, King T, and Ice-T with Doggin The Wax and 6 N The Mornin, it was proud to see that we were finally being excepted! It opened up the doors for us and made me want to do it. When we got started as far as Compton’s Most Wanted was concerned I just wanted to be a little more in-depth as far as what was going on in the hood. I was 17 and I was able to witness firsthand the formation of our foundation of West Coast music.

3. No Plans Of An MC Eiht/CMW Biopic

My story is not done yet because I consider myself to be still on that climb. I got a lot more to talk about and a lot more shit to do. I wanna keep adding to the story and when its time to do it maybe we’ll do it but right now we got a lot more to add to the book.

4. Lyrical Importance

In my day you had to be a lyricist! You had to be a lyricist in those days! You look at Ice Cube and others; they were some lyrical mutha fuckaz. Today it doesn’t really seem to be focused on lyrics, it’s a lot of catchy sh*t.

5. Which Way Iz West

We have been putting time into it trying to make it a quality record. We just tried to make sure it was a guaranteed good record for the West Coast. We wanted to make sure it was quality for the people. I’ve known Premier for decades and I knew him as a friend.
