The rapper, who is currently serving a 75 year jail sentence, has already been granted an appeal in his murder conviction.

Max is now sitting tight as he awaits an actual appeal date. Once that comes in the MC known as Biggavelli, has a new lawyer to fight for his innocence. “He’s gonna try hopefully to go back to trial, or get it a mistrial or get it time served, whatever we can do,” she said. O’Shay, who speaks to Max daily, says he’s in good spirits about the appeal. (XXL Mag)

Last September, Max B associate/producer Dame Grease said an appeal was in the works.

“The appeal is looking good. I actually now speak with him every other day, and he’s good. He’s good and that’s what counts. I hate people when they talk about ‘Yo Max music, I need mad music.’ He’s good and that’s what counts. Family’s good. Just working it, working the process. Gotta put the appeal in, got to put the dates in, gotta go through situations, many people gotta do what they gotta do. You know what I’m saying?” (Vlad TV)

Max’s ex-girlfriend, Gina Conway, who had previously accepted a plea deal in the case, was sentenced in early September.

The ex-girlfriend of rap artist Max B has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for her role in a deadly robbery at a northern New Jersey hotel. Gina Conway was sentenced Friday, one day after Max B , whose real name is Charly Wingate , was ordered to serve 75 years and his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, received a life term plus 35 years for their roles in the September 2006 robbery in Fort Lee. Prosecutors said they and Conway , who took a plea deal and testified against the pair, plotted to rob two men she had recently met. (The Associated Press)

Both Max and his step brother were handed their sentences in early September.

Both Wingate and Leerdam looked resigned when Superior Court Judge Harry G. Carroll sentenced them in Hackensack, New Jersey. Wingate said he was not happy with his attorney, Gerald Saluti, and fired him during the hearing just before he received his sentence. Witnesses during trial testified that [the victims] David Taylor and his friend, Allan Plowden, were seen in Harlem a few days before the robbery, driving expensive cars and showing off a lot of cash. Leerdam’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said her client deserved some leniency because he was only 21 at the time of the incident. Carroll, however, handed out a stiff sentence, saying Leerdam took a firearm with him to the hotel “and did not hesitate to use it.” (North Jersey News)
