Lupe Fiasco and the Clipse have been selected to perform at the upcoming Coachella Valley Muisc & Arts Festival in California this spring.
The hip-hop duo will be joined by a variety of music acts.
This year’s Coachella line-up includes Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney, Public Enemyy, The Knux, K’naan, My Bloody Valentine, Steve Aoki, Ida Maria and more. (Billboard)
The announced line-up was previously delayed several times.
“I know everybody is going crazy, but we’re not stalling, we’re still working on the show,” Coachella architect Paul Tollet said. “Everything we do is in service of the show, not in service of the announcement of the show. Believe me, we’re excited to tell everybody and we want to tell everybody, but the show is still being put together.” (Los Angeles Times)
With the nation’s current financial crisis, special pricing plans are being offered for this year’s three-day event.
Layaway plans, recently resurrected by Sears and other retail chains, will be available to consumers who buy tickets to several 2009 festivals, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It returns April 17-19 in Indio, Calif. Fans will have two options besides money up front when buying a $269 three-day pass: pay half down and the rest April 1, or pay 10% followed by equal installments on March 1 and April 1 without interest or additional fees. The plans are sold only online and aren’t available for $99 single-day admission. (Coachella)
Predominantly rock-based, the annual event is known for showcasing various hip-hop acts.
