While Luda relies on a party setting for his Conjure ad, Jay is shown alone in slow motion for D’usse.

Jay-Z and Ludacris drink to the good life in two new commercials for their favorite cognacs. In his spot for D’USSE, the Brooklyn rapper smokes a cigar in slow motion while enjoying the NYC skyline before reaching for his luxury cognac. Luda’s commercial, directed by actor Larenz Tate and featuring former Danity Kane member D. Woods, is less understated and features the rapper enjoying a classy night out with a group of friends. Luda’s Conjure director/actor Larenz Tate has already spoke on getting an opportunity to link up with the Atlanta rap star.

“It was a pleasure working with my good friend Chris Bridges on the Conjure commercial,” said Tate. “It feels good to work alongside people you respect. I hope my vision as a director gives the world a glimpse of the new level that Chris is taking his cognac brand. Cheers!” (Rap-Up)

The Southern rapper-turned-actor officially launched his brand three years ago.

Hip-Hop icon Chris “Ludacris” Bridges has launched a new cognac, banking on his success on the record charts to shoot his latest project to the top of an extremely competitive business. With the inevitable paparazzi and chauffeur-driven Bentley, the star created a buzz at the normally staid Vin expo, the wine and spirits trade show in Bordeaux this week. His fan base spreads across America, Asia, Europe and Africa. Exactly the market Kim Hartmann, owner of Birkedal Hartmann cognac, hopes to capture with Conjure, custom blend for the hip, urban market. He’s prepared to ship as much Conjure cognac as the hipsters are prepared to buy at $34.99 per bottle. (AFP)

Reports of Jay’s venture into D’usse surfaced last spring.

Looks like Jay-Z may be expanding his empire to include cognac. Last night in New York at an ultra private event he helped introduce D’usse (pronounced “dew-say”) a cognac being produced by Bacardi that is expected to compete with Hennessy. Don’t worry, you won’t have to break the bank to drink this stuff it will go for $44.99 for a 750-ml bottle – but don’t be surprised if there is a super expensive version. Will you buy it off the name drop or do you need a taste? (The LIFE Files)
