Ludacris’ Atlanta Restaurant Closes Its Doors For Good

Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris plans to insert his complete focus on the forthcoming opening of his Chicken & Beer restaurant at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport by revealing plans to shutdown his other hometown restaurant, Straits.

Speaking via a statement, Luda dished out his plan to close down Straits after taking an ownership role back in 2008.

“As I continue to learn and evolve as a businessman, I am extremely excited to put my restaurateur footprint into a new venture inside the busiest international airport in the United States, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Straits was a great segue into the industry and with Chicken N Beer I can create my own concept. I look forward to expanding my creativity and driving. (Statement)

A few days ago, Luda announced his new airport restaurant venture.

“Im taking my restaurateur footprint into the busiest airport in the WORLD! Hartsfield-Jackson ATL International! Chicken & Beer coming soon!,” he tweeted January 3rd.

This marked his latest venture in the food industry since opening up Straits four years ago.

Chicken & Beer will be Luda’s second foray into the food world. In 2008, seduced by kung pao lollipops, he licensed the name and pan-Asian concept of Straits from Chris Yeo, a California-based chef and restaurateur, and opened the fifth branch of the restaurant in Atlanta’s Midtown area, where it is still operating. But while the menu at Straits is fairly extensive and wandering, we suspect the offerings at Chicken & Beer will be significantly more focused. (RapFix)

According to reports, Hartsfield-Jackson is known for being frequently packed with people.

It makes sense. After all, Hartsfield Jackson is the busiest airport in the world, serving over 243,000 passengers per day and 89 million passengers a year. We have some advice for future restaurateurs: putting your restaurant in a casino was so 2011. In 2012, if you want to make some real money, put your restaurant in an airport.
