[After raising eyebrows and making some people scratch their heads with the new Lone Springs short film, director Cole Bennett tells SOHH what approach he took for this must-see and star-studded movie.]

Lone Springs has a much deeper meaning to me. There are plenty people who don’t quite understand the plot and the overall message of Lone Springs, and that’s fine – I expected that.

I grew up in a town of just 10,000 people about an hour and a half from Chicago. That is where we shot Lone Springs, Plano, IL. With being from a town in the middle of nowhere, no one really has any desire to seek what else is out there.

It seems as if everyone is content with what they have, which isn’t a problem at all – I just knew I wanted more. I played this metaphor through Lone Springs and incorporated all Chicago influencers/rappers as well as some hometown friends to blend the both of my worlds.

The main goal of this short film was for the viewer to create their own metaphor and be able to have open interpretation of what it meant to them. Just push for more, no matter what it takes.
