G-Unit member Lloyd Banks has expressed his indifference towards ex-Bad Boy artist Shyne‘s rap comeback, as well as stated his opinion on the rapper’s new music.
From Banks’ perspective, Shyne’s new flow and sound doesn’t reflect the caliber of work he was known for in the early 2000’s.
“[Artists] that I’m not interested [in hearing again]? Probably Shyne,” Banks said in an interview with DJ Nef-You. “I don’t think anybody’s too interested in hearing music from him because it doesn’t sound like what we were used to hearing from him. His whole style, everything just switched up for me, so I’m definitely not excited to hear what he sounds like.” (I Luv Lola)
Last month, Banks dismissed new music from Shyne and Game, labeling their latest records “wack”.
“Wackest right now,” Banks asked in an interview on A-List Radio. “Shyne, he’s number one. I don’t know [the name], it’s featuring Biggie Smalls, rest in peace. He’s disrespecting Biggie Smalls man. This record is the worst record, like the worst record…like, wack…I think Game’s ‘Shake’ record, that was super wack. Umm…who else is wack right now? Just put Shyne, the new Shyne [in the list]. ‘After Shyne Has Been Released,’ Google that.” (A-List Radio)
Banks previously talked about Shyne’s new rhyming flow and voice.
“I’m telling you right now, it was something in the food or something, he’s at a D-Class rapper right now. You know how the dude that wakes up and ‘I’m a rap right now because my homie’s doing it.’ You don’t hear it? What kind of style he’s got right now? I’m not digging that right now…I didn’t know what to think…” (Miss Info TV)
In August, Banks’ boss, 50 Cent, pranked Shyne during a live Def Jam conference call.
“I’d like to speak with Shyne,” Fif said while recording the session from an office desk. “My name is Sean, I’m right out on Radio One. I called right after Tim Westwood. I’d like to speak with Shyne. Yeah my question, is this Shyne? What’s up, man. Everything’s good. I was just wondering what is your real issue with 50? … The 50 sh*t with Shyne, I think that sh*t is a hoax! I think it’s the way you try to gain attention in some ways because the n*gga ain’t been f*cking with you for 15 years. You’ve been gone for 10 years so you couldn’t have had no issues. Shut up n*gga! Shut up n*gga! Shut up, you’re on a f*cking island! You can’t go to war from a f*cking island! Shut the f*ck up! Shut up! F*ck Shyne! F*ck Def Jam! F*ck everybody! I don’t care you went to jail! I hope you got raped by a pack of n*ggas!” (This Is 50)
