Banks explained why he had to take some time off.

“I would be lying if I said I was worry-free,” Banks told radio host Funkmaster Flex. “At the same time, I had a lot of other things going on. My pops just had passed, my moms was suffering from heart attacks back to back and this is when I was home which was kinda weird to be on tour for so long and then you come home and it kinda like, grounds you and really gives you a reality check, this happened in October and my album came out around the 10th. Through all that happening and feeling like the backlash, 50 [Cent] will be the first to tell you I received a portion of the 50 Cent backlash but he always told me what it was, I worked through it and me just being me, being at home, in the comfort of my own studio, that’s one of the first things I did was buy my own studio so I ain’t got to be running around — and I just locked in.” (Hot 97)

Banks recently spoke on his upcoming third album, Hunger For More 2.

“He’s actually heard a bulk of my records,” Banks said about 50. “A lot of people don’t realize that he’s still the boss. I look to him for that guidance and when there’s not many people to turn, I can turn left and see [Tony] Yayo and I can turn right and see 50. Both of their opinions matter when it comes to picking the records and vice versa. This just happens to be the first record that people have heard with me by myself. So that would probably be the only difference from the first two albums and me going into this album, that my first single is not featuring 50 Cent…As far off as people see Lady Gaga — her records are poppin’ so I don’t think that would be a problem. It would just have to be the right music. I like all different kinds of music to be honest with you.” (VIBE)

While he is known for gritty street rhymes, Banks recently said he can also slow things down with his R&B writing skills.

“The music overseas, the party atmospheres — it’s incredible,” Banks explained in an interview. “Don’t get me wrong, I love the club scenes in New York City and the States, [but] when you go overseas, you might hear [the Black Eyed Peas singing] ‘Toniiight’s gonna be a good night.’ You’re hearing that in the club 10 times. So if you didn’t know that joint, I come back over here like, ‘You don’t know that record? You’re buggin’ — that’s poppin!’ That record, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Lady Gaga — you’re hearing so many different records, it makes you want to expand as an artist and get records that’s enjoyed by all people. They’re definitely gonna hear those kind of records from me too…A lot of people don’t know I write more than rap music. I can write R&B records. I can write hit records — just put it like that. Hopefully I’ll be writing for a few more people in the future.” (MTV)

Earlier this year, Banks said his third solo project was still en route to come out this summer.

“Yeah, we’re aiming for a summer release, late summer. Its not a stamp date, but that’s where I’m headed for,” he said in an interview. “This is my year. That’s the other thing. When you are working independent, you can decide when…sometimes when you are working for a label, they put you on that time clock. Sometimes, things can get forced. We’ll see in the very near future, it’s a very smart option [for G-Unit to go independent.]” (All Hip Hop)

No further details have been released as of now.
