Toya said they made a mutual agreement to keep their 12-year from seeing him.

“That’s no place for a kid to go,” says Wayne’s ex-wife LaToya Carter, also the mother of Wayne’s 2-year-old son Dewayne III. “[Wayne and I] just decided not to let her go [to Riker’s Island] period. She’s never been. He makes sure he talks to his daughter everyday, talking and writing is enough….[Reginae‘s] writing her father a letter and she took pictures for him. When I go visit, I’ll bring it to him,” says Toya. “We may spend [the day] with my father or just together.” (VIBE)

Last March, Toya said their daughter spoke to Wayne daily.

“As long as we’ve been talking or dating I’ve never not been able to pick up the phone and call him no matter what is going on in my life,” she said in an interview. “Now he’s locked up and it’s not like that anymore. As far as my daughter, her and her father have a great relationship. She talks to him every day after school. She can still talk to him but now it’s on a schedule with calls. It’s going to be a change for these 8 months.” (Honey Mag)

Last October, Toya discussed the relationship she has with Wayne.

“We talk,” she said in an interview. “We have a great relationship. He’s a great father. He tells [our daughter] about [his other kids], so I just go along with the flow. I’m good with all of [his children’s mothers]. I try to keep the kids cool because they’re all in the same situation, so we don’t have time for any drama.” (E! Online)

Wayne began serving time on a 2007 gun possession gun conviction after multiple delays in early March.

Lil Wayne has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a New York City gun case. The Grammy Award-winning rapper was taken away in handcuffs to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing. He’ll serve his sentence in city jails, not a state prison. He could be released in about eight months with good behavior. (CBS News)
