For Rowland, Wayne’s musical genius and the way he approaches music impresses her the most.

“He’s just an artist that loves music,” said Rowland of Weezy, whom she has not had the chance to work with since he collaborated on Destiny’s Child’s “Soldier” in 2004. “You can tell that just by how genius he is on his records. When I loved this record [“Motivation”], I was hoping he would love the record. And you can tell that it vibed with him or it connected with him in some sort of way for him to do what he did on this record because when I got it back — I literally was at a loss for words.” (Billboard)

Not only adored by Rowland, Latin actress/singer Jennifer Lopez called Weezy her favorite rapper last February.

“I was working out yesterday and I was listening to Lil Wayne and I was just like, ‘Wow. He really says some sh*t,” Lopez explained. “But I was just listening to what he was saying and I really enjoyed it. He might be one of the best out there right now. He might be the best. He’s really good.” (Hot 97)

Recently, rap star 50 Cent labeled Rowland one of music’s most underrated artists.

“I’m so happy Kelly got that hit record,” 50 responded. “She’s due; she’s so due. She’s the most underrated female soloist in the game, and it’s finally time for he…There wasn’t no dance moves Beyonce was doin’ [in Destiny’s Child] that Kelly wasn’t doin’. It’s just the right song. You got the song, now you can forget about it. It’s going. They all did the same moves.” (MTV)

Rowland’s new Lil Wayne-featured track debuted online last March.

Kelly Rowland links with Lil Wayne on “Motivation,” the Jim Jonsin and Rico Love-produced single from her oft-delayed third solo album. Over a sexy, synth-saturated beat, the former Destiny’s Child diva commands her beau to put his hands all over her. “Go longer, you can last more rounds/ Much harder, you’re almost there now/ So go lover, make mama proud,” coos Kelly, throwing it to her labelmate Weezy, who raps about getting a taste of some sugar.
