Speaking with radio host Tim Westwood, Minaj promised superior Carter IV production.

“Of course, if Wayne would have me, yes,” Minaj told Tim Westwood when asked if she will appear on Tha Carter IV. “I think that’s going to be very anticipated. I think it’s already being anticipated. His beat selection alone is going to friggin’ kill. I’ve already heard a couple of the beats, in fact, the other day, I went to tell this producer, ‘Yo, hold that beat for me.’ And he said, Wayne already took it. And it hurt my heart, I was like, ‘Errr’. But yeah, he’s snatching them up. He’s ready. I cannot wait. I’m just, I’m proud of him. I’m super proud of him.” (“Tim Westwood TV”)

Last week, Young Money CEO Mack Maine said Carter IV was near completion.

“I was in the studio all night workin’ on this Carter IV,” Maine said in an interview on Thursday (January 27). “We pretty much finished, to be honest; we probably need about two more songs. We got David Banner coming in tonight, so hopefully he’ll come with somethin’. We try to make sure–he kind of makes every album. He made Tha Carter III, and made [We Are Young Money] — Two or three more songs I’d say. We could be finished as of today, but we perfectionists so we still looking for one or two more sounds.” (XXL Mag)

In early January, contributing producer T-Minus also said the LP was inching towards the finish line.

“Me and Drake had this record that we were going to put on [his sophomore album] Take Care, but [producer] 40 put this crazy mix on it and just made the beat bang–and after Wayne heard the mix that 40 did he was just like, ‘Wow, I’ve got to use this for my album.’ So yeah, I’m on the Tha Carter IV. The record is called ‘Maybe She Will.’ Things could change, but so far, it’s Wayne, and they got a verse from [Rick] Ross, and they got Drake on the hook. I never even heard Wayne’s verse. I briefly met Wayne a few weeks ago, when I was in New York, and it was really short, like a few seconds meeting him. It was a session that we were having for Wayne and Drake. Boi-1da was there, too. But Wayne’s project, they’re trying to wrap it up really soon. He’s got a bunch of songs ready for the album. He’s just got to get a few more done, and then they’re going to push it out.” (Complex)

Producer Boi-1da recently revealed Wayne traveled to the Big Apple to record Carter IV music.

“We were actually just up in New York working, Lil Wayne was in there, too. I gave him stuff for Tha Carter IV. Man, 2011 is going to be a good year for music. Drake’s in tip top shape and what’s amazed me is that lyrically he’s gotten better. He was already an outstanding lyricist but now I’m just in anticipation of what people are going to think when they hear his new music…I know a lot of people had criticized him for singing, but I think he’s just coming back to show people why they fell in love with him, like ‘did you forget about me?.’ And it’s really coming out in his raps. It’s something I can’t even really explain it.” (VIBE)

A Carter IV release date has not yet been announced.
