Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne recently showed some love to his fellow Young Money crew and, notably, what YMCMB member should be recognized as the best hip-hop artist alive.

Although impressed with Drake’s run, Weezy F. Baby gave the ultimate ode to protégé Nicki Minaj.

Of Kendrick Lamar, he said, “Ain’t nobody touch that dude.” And he praised the artists on his own Young Money label. He called Drake “a wonderful person” and said Nicki Minaj is not just the best female rapper out there, but the best rapper. “I am not going to be jumping out here talking about, ‘I’m the best,'” Wayne said. The Louisiana native also reflected on his impending retirement from album-making.

Asked about his legacy as he nears his self-imposed retirement age of 33, he said he used to want to be remembered in the same way The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur and Jay Z are thought of. Now, he’d prefer folks think of him as a beloved figure. “I would just say I’d like to be remembered as a good spirit, a good soul, like a Willie Nelson … like a Snoop Dogg,” Wayne said. (AP)

Outside of going down memory lane, Wayne recently talked about his upcoming Tha Carter V album.

“25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this,” Weezy told MTV News after taking a deep breath and a second to think out his answer. “I didn’t smile when I said it,” he pointed out to us in an effort to show just how serious he really is. “I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five.” (MTV)

Over summer 2013, Weezy said he saw himself hanging up the microphone after Carter V dropped.

“Yes, very true,” Wayne said when asked if his retirement plans are still on deck. “I want to retire after Tha Carter V which I hope will be my last album. My next album’s not Tha Carter V because I think I have to work on other albums as well with my pop, Birdman, and things like that. But after Tha Carter V, I hope I can retire. [laughs] … [I’ll be able to do] things like spend quality time with my kids.” (“The Jimmy Kimmel Show”)
