Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has taken in the holiday cheer by sharing his Thanksgiving experience with fans.
Writing on his WeezyThanxYou.com blog, Wayne shed details on spending the holiday in his hometown.
“Hello world. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving filled with all the food and football you could handle. Mine was great for two reasons. I spent it in New Orleans and I spent it around family. Enjoy this holiday season. Cherish these moments with your family. I love you all. P.S. What are you thankful for?” (Weezy Thanx You)
A few days prior to Thanksgiving, Wayne’s mentor Baby gave out food to his local hometown fans.
We rarely see the soft side of Cash Money CEO Birdman, but MTV News caught up with the 5-Star General in his hometown of New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon for his 15th annual turkey giveaway. The event was in Shakespeare Park, across the street from the housing projects Birdman, born Bryan Williams, grew up in. He said he was very happy to be home. “It feels good to see people that you grew up with, that you’ve been knowing your whole life and your family,” Birdman said. “[They] know more about you than you know about yourself.” (MTV)
Up north, Wayne’s Young Money crew Nicki Minaj and Drake were performing in New York City.
“Today is Thanksgiving and we have so much to be thankful for. I’m not gonna go crazy, but, I do thank God for you guys,” Nicki Minaj told the crowd at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom last night. The “Wave Ya Hands” rapper was joined by a cornucopia of special guests including Drake, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole and even Kanye West at the Hot 97 hosted event. The EBONY magazine cover girl donned a blonde wig and what can only be described as a “mullet” outfit–business suit in the front, flesh-colored glitter party in the back.
