Aside from speaking on Eminem and how often he keeps in contact with Young Money, Wayne reflected on why he was serving a sentence behind bars on a felony gun conviction.

“I’ll definitely move more carefully,” Wayne told radio personality Funkmaster Flex about precautions he will take after leaving Rikers Island in November. “Everybody says you’re here for a reason, so, I promise you Flex, I try to find that reason everyday. I think when I get out, that’ll be the only time I’ll know the answer…[I’m Not A Human Being EP] will drop before Tha Carter IV, only on the Internet. It’s stuff I recorded right before I came in. I don’t want the phone to hang-up on us so I want to say thank-you to all my fans and I love you Flex for giving me this opportunity…” (In Flex We Trust)

Young Money’s Lil Twist recently shared his thoughts on Wayne’s bid.

“We’ll be fine because [Wayne] has such a big name and now we have three of the hottest stars in the world, including Drake and Nicki, so we can’t lose. We’re gonna continue to run this game. This whole experience has taught me to stay humble and not to get in trouble. I don’t even think my bro did anything wrong. With him being who he is and doing what he does, he needs protection, but there’s different rules in every spot so we’re gonna just make it through. I can’t wait until we can put this behind us. I’m looking forward to working with him again. I’m looking forward to fun and games. I’m looking forward to talking to him about everything like I used to. I just want him to be proud when he sees me. I love my bro.” (VIBE)

Drake also recently vouched for Wayne’s innocence.

“One of my biggest influences ended up being a close friend of mine, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne who is actually responsible for my career has always been a huge influence to me and one of my heroes,” Drake said in an interview. “I’ve talked to Wayne since he’s been in jail. In my opinion, he didn’t do anything wrong. I think that was the opportunity to make an example of somebody who didn’t deserve to be made an example out of.” (CNN)

Earlier this summer, Wayne released an open letter to fans informing them of his daily routines.

“So I’ve been writing and let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I’m writing are… well there’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair. I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some. I applaud my Young Money family for what they’re doing. As I’m not surprised. This is what we’re supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early. I love my team. Much love to Tez and Mack. I know that people are inquisitive of what I do all day, so here goes. I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep. That’s my day.” (Weezy Thanx You)
