Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne is reportedly the cause for a Rikers Island prison employee being suspended after being caught in his cell for an extended amount of time.

Details on the suspension hit the Internet Wednesday (October 27) morning.

Capt. Raphael Collazzo was caught on a security camera making an unexplained 45-minute visit to the rapper’s cell, which is supposed to be an isolation lockup, sources said. “We don’t know what he was doing. We know the camera picked him up,” said one source. Collazzo’s explanation “did not suffice to explain the time he spent” with the rapper, who is serving a one-year sentence for a loaded gun on his tour bus, the source added. Collazzo was suspended without pay for 10 days, said agency spokeswoman Sharman Stein, who declined to elaborate. (New York Daily News)

Last month, it was reported that Wayne was receiving special treatment from another prison captain.

A Rikers Island jail captain is being investigated for treating rapper Lil Wayne like a big shot. Capt. Latanya Brown was questioned by Correction Department investigators for spending extra time with the star and letting him hang out in his cell while other inmates were locked out of their bunks and ordered into the recreation yard, two sources told The Post. The department has a zero-tolerance policy for officers who give preferential treatment to inmates, a spokesman said. Brown could not be reached for comment. (New York Post)

In the spring, a female Rikers Island employee was accused of pampering Wayne.

In April, just one month after the rapper started his year-long sentence for attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a guard at the complex was fired for allegedly spying on Lil Wayne. Amelia Negron was fired for glimpsing at Lil Wayne, although she denied the charges, claiming her union boss forced her to make a confession. (All Hip Hop)

Earlier this month, Wayne penned an open letter to fans speaking being placed into solitary confinement for previously possessing an unauthorized MP3 player.

“By now I’m guessing that you all have heard about my recent relocation to the bing, which is punitive segregation. Basically, no T.V., no radio, no snacks/junkfood, and one phone call a week. This punishment has been handed to me for my earlier MP3 incident. I admit, I fu#ked up and now I must deal with the consequences. As I write this, I only have 25 days left, and it’ll be even less than that when you read this. So honestly, I’m fine. Obviously, this gives me a lot of time to myself and a lot of alone time with my thoughts, which can be creatively dangerous. I do miss being able to hear from my family everyday but once a week will have to suffice. To them, I apologize. I’m still able to receive mail so reading and responding is still a huge part of my day. I’d like to thank everyone that sent me B-Day cards and wishes… that was terrific. You all are wonderful, simply wonderful.” (Weezy Thanx You)

Lil Wayne is expected to be released November 4th.
