Although brief with his words, Weezy F. Baby posted a photo of himself and Red Sox World Series Most Valuable Player David Ortiz onto his Twitter page early Thursday (October 31).

“RED SOX NAAAAATION!!!!!!! Boston Strong. MVP! MVP! pic.twitter.com/OuXGMUIK7M,” Wayne tweeted October 31. (Lil Wayne’s Twitter)

After a hard-fought run throughout the playoffs, the Red Sox capped it all with a 6-1 victory Wednesday evening over the St. Louis Cardinals at Fenway Park.

Boston was strong. Too strong for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Red Sox, defeated the Cardinals 6-1 on Wednesday to win their eighth World Series title and cap a wicked good worst-to-first season that delighted a city dealing with the aftermath of the deadly bombings at its signature marathon in April. Shane Victorino drove in four runs with a bases-loaded double in the third and an RBI single in the fourth as Boston took the Series four games to two. (CNN)

Despite a forgettable 2012 season, the Red Sox made history by beating the odds to become world champs.

Closer Koji Uehara retired Matt Carpenter for the final out, setting off wild celebrations on the field and in the stands for the first World Series clinched in front of the home fans at Fenway Park since their 1918 championship. It was an emotional climax for a team that had finished last in the American League East in 2012 with a 69-93 record, and had vowed to “B strong” in solidarity with a city shaken by deadly bomb attacks at the finish line of the Boston Marathon in April. The Red Sox became the only team other than the 1991 Minnesota Twins to go from last place in one season to World Series champions the next year. (TV NZ)

A couple years ago, Wayne publicly admitted he was a Red Sox fan.

“Since this is the first show, I’ll let you know from this show on, you will be able to post questions to our Facebook page or to our site or whatever,” Weezy added. “You’ll be able to post questions up. I’ll get to those questions in some kind of way — I have my teams. I’m not sure if you can tell, but I’m a Green Bay Packers fan, I’m an LA Lakers fan, I’m a Boston Red Sox fan, I’m a Washington Capitals fan.” (“Weezy’s Sports Corner”)
