Lil Wayne Balls Hard On NBA Over All-Star Weekend Snub

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has once again showed off his sports wit this week after sharing a quick thought on next month’s NBA All-Star Weekend game in New Orleans.

Weezy F. Baby jumped onto his Twitter page to vouch support for Indiana Pacers’ Lance Stephenson over him not making the Eastern Conference team.

“It ain’t an all star game without dat boy Lance Stephenson,” Wayne tweeted January 31. (Lil Wayne’s Twitter)

Sports writers have taken note of Stephenson’s snub and suggested it may have contributed to his all-star performance last night against the Phoenix Suns.

Call it the Goran Dragic and Lance Stephenson Revenge Game. On the night the NBA announced the All-Star reserves, Dragic and Stephenson found themselves on the list of snubs, and then they went head-to-head in Indiana. Behind 28 points and seven assists from Dragic, the Phoenix Suns knocked off the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers 102-94 on Thursday night. And after Phoenix’s recently snubbed point guard helped his team jump out to a 36-19 lead after one quarter, Indiana’s Stephenson dominated on the other end to keep the Pacers within striking distance. Each NBA All-Star Team is allowed up to a maximum of 12 players every year.

There are only 12 All-Star Game roster slots per conference, and there are more than 12 deserving players. Somebody is going to be left off — we like to call it a snub, but most of the time it’s more like splitting hairs between good players. You pull on of these guys off the coach’s list of All-Star Game reserves to get your guy on and the fans of the player yanked will cry snub. And the circle of life continues. (NBC Sports Talk)

Earlier in the week, Wayne gave his take on this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVIII match-up.

“Honestly, I don’t want to use the word ‘surprised,’ but it is unexpected to see Seattle in the Super Bowl. I expected Peyton. He’s been there before. And I love Russell Wilson. But they are not playing in Seattle. I just can’t see Peyton losing. … [Peyton] is special. He is one of a kind. I am glad I am able to live to see him, to see the kind of things he is doing.” (The MMQB)
