Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy is reportedly drug and alcohol-free these days after spending nearly a month in rehab and was released Saturday (June 29).
According to reports, Scrappy’s lawyer said his client is living life as a new man.
Lil Scrappy’s lawyer Mawuli Mel Davis tells TMZ … Scrappy was able to kick his nasty habit and the rapper was released at 12:01 AM Saturday, practically a new man. He explains, “Scrappy has had time to reflect, read, and write. He is now drug and alcohol free.” To pass on his newfound wisdom, we’re told Scrappy will start mentoring teens next week — speaking to them about what he’s gone through and how to keep their noses clean. Maybe a little too soon, but … FYI — Scrappy — who’s currently on probation — better stay straight, because he must submit to random drug tests. Whatever it takes, right? (TMZ)
During his stint, the attorney said Scrappy would have a mentor guide him through the addiction.
Lil’ Scrappy’s attorney, Mawuli Mel Davis, tells RumorFix, “We are proud of the decision he’s made and we have identified a mentor who will help him with his new life when he has completed the program.” Rev. Run, who says he’s battled drug addiction, even offered himself up for support for the rapper/reality star. Lil’ Scrappy is scheduled to be in rehab for 30 days. (RumorFix)
A few days prior, Scrappy acknowledged he would sacrifice time away from his family to get clean.
Atlanta rapper Lil’ Scrappy said Wednesday he is headed to rehab. The musician, whose real name is Darryl Richardson, has had several court appearances in recent months. A few weeks ago, he failed a court-ordered drug test. “It is my hope that my time away from my family and especially my little girl, my daughter, will make me a better man,” Richardson said. He said it’s time for him to get help for marijuana addiction. A judge has granted Richardson a continuance in his probation battle, giving him time to attend rehab. (WSBTV)
The Atlanta rapper initially showed up in court to address drug test results.
He appeared in court Wednesday morning where he responded a drug test he took last month that tested positive for weed. The entertainer was suited down, looking like an upstanding citizen. “Momma D,” his mother in real life and reality show “Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta” co-star, would have been pleased. Lil Scrappy, whose actual name is Darryl Kevin Richardson II, reportedly admitted to TMZ that he has an addiction to marijuana. The 29-year-old’s attorney, Mawuli Mel Davis, admits that his client is scheduled to enter a rehab facility in order to kick his ongoing drug habit. (News One)
