New York rapper Lil Mama‘s photos of herself as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes from the upcoming VH1 “Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story” have surfaced online.
Although the biopic is not expected to air until next fall, promo photos have heated up the Internet.
Good songs never go out of style, but what about baggy jeans, Dr. Martens, and condom accessories? We’ve been working hard to contain our excitement about the upcoming TLC biopic, Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story, which means resisting the urge to tell coworkers not to go chasin’ waterfalls whenever possible. But now that production has wrapped, the time has come to share a first look at the project with all of you. (VH1)
TLC group member Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas spoke on her anticipation for the new film project.
Us Weekly caught up with founding TLC member Thomas, now 42, on Thursday, May 2, and she couldn’t help but gush about the project. “I can’t wait,” she told Us, adding that she and Watkins are executive producers on the flick. “When you see it, you’re gonna be like, ‘Whoa.’ It’s spooky…I’m telling you, it’s gonna be crazy.” (Us Magazine)
The biopic will reportedly cover the threesome’s early days up through the passing of Left Eye.
The film follows the influential girl group from its Atlanta inception to recording studios, the Grammy Awards, and even the days following the tragic death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. With firsthand guidance from Chilli and T-Boz, the project has recreated the group’s most iconic videos, with cast members stepping into some of their more memorable ’90s fashions you may have tried to forget. In the photo above, 1992 single “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg”-off debut album, Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip-is brought to life for 2013. The song remains a classic in the R&B world, introducing us to three ATL tomboys who played by their own rules, and Lil Mama (Left Eye), Keke Palmer (Chilli), and Drew Sidora (T-Boz) step into those roles seamlessly.
