New York rapper Lil’ Kim and ex-boyfriend Mr. Papers, a.k.a. Jeremy Neil, are reportedly at each other’s necks over their daughter Royal Reign Jones.

According to Papers’ publicist Tasha Hilton, there is a misconception behind the legal dispute.

“He is literally just trying to see [Royal]. He’s been trying to do it very quietly.” Kim, 41, didn’t bother showing up for their July 9 hearing—and instead, filed her own suit accusing Papers of beating her up. But Papers insisted to Hilton that things never got physical during their relationship, and he believes the suit is a ploy to further prevent him from seeing the baby. “She’s playing really dirty now with the domestic situation,” Hilton said. “There has never been any domestic violence.” (Bossip)

Papers posted up a picture of his daughter onto Instagram last month.

Last fall, Kim talked about late hip-hop mentor Notorious B.I.G. watching over her daughter.

“I think he’s very proud. I think he’s super proud because he knows that I’m a nurturer by nature,” Kim, who gave birth to daughter Royal Reign on June 9, 2014. “He’s probably helping me right now because he knows, ‘This girl is gonna need some help from above.’ So, ‘Thank you babe for helping me. I’m going to be the best mom I can be.'” (Hip Hollywood)

Kim relied on social media to unload her baby’s photo to the masses last summer.

“Thank U to all my fans #TeamLilKim #KillerBees #Beehive & friends for the Birthday love,” she wrote along with the photo. “I Love U guys so much and we will be together soon again. On my Birthday I want to share something special with U all…. The greatest gift I have ever received. My princess, Royal !!!!! This is her first picture on the day she was born. It was life changing and I want to share a small piece of my pride and joy with U on my special day today!!!” (Lil Kim’s WhoSay)
