Defining herself as a business woman, Kim said she would do a joint track with Minaj for the right price and not an apology.

“The only way that’s gonna happen is it’s definitely gonna take a check. At the end of the day, I’m a boss. I was a hustler before I was an entertainer. What I mean by that is, I love music–love, love, love music. I love entertaining, I love being in the industry, but the truth of the matter is if music and the industry didn’t bring me money, this would not be my first occupation. I also am a businesswoman and I know that living life, you have to eat. If the industry was designed where you didn’t make money from it, it was just music to produce, I would still do it, but it wouldn’t be my first occupation.” (Rap-Up)

Last December, Kim said it would take millions for her to consider doing a joint track.

“I would do a song with her… for the right price. I’m a hustler. 7 million? Maybe,” Kim said. “The girl is not as stupid as people think that she is…She know exactly what she’s doing to make people feel sorry for her; that’s her thing. She’s a very contradicting creature, and I noticed that about her…God made it so that I can have my way back in and really represent the right way in this game for the females… She wanted to be the only one out there. Just because I been in the game for a minute don’t mean it’s over for me, baby. At the end of the day, I’m not going nowhere…” (Hot 97)

Prior to Nicki blowing up over the past couple years, both artists appeared on a track called “Everywhere We Go” which dropped last year.

“As soon as Kim came home from jail–right before ‘Dancing With The Stars’–I was like, ‘There’s this new b*tch that’s about to be hot, you might want to f*ck with her,'” remembers producer/rapper D-Dot, who laid the beat. “Nicki came to the studio and did the verse with me. She hadn’t even met Kim…[Lil Kim] said ‘cool when you put Nicki on it send it back to me.’ … I sent it back and she never re-did a new verse. So that’s the same old Lil Kim reference verse…I didn’t leak the record. The only people that had a copy was Lil Kim and me. So I don’t really know where that came from.” (VIBE)

Aside from dodging Kim’s disses, Minaj’s Pink Friday debut album has continued to push out units.

Leading the pack this week is Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday which dropped three slots to No. 4 with 46,700 copies. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Minaj’s debut album now sits at 1,081,300 after three months. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
