New York rapper Lil Kim has sent out a warning shot to her rap competition by promising to return fire to anyone who disses her.

Although she did not reference any artist in particular, Kim hinted at artists swagger jacking her style.

“Y’all know who started this right,” Kim asked a Detroit crowd as she put on a short-cut wig. “Y’all know where this came from though. Let me explain something though. I love when people copy me, that’s a complement. But when you bust shots at me and throw pebbles at me, as if I don’t even exist and you don’t see me standing here, I’ma bite you! [laughs]” (Vlad TV)

Recently, Kim accused rapper Nicki Minaj of subliminally dissing her on tracks.

“For the last year, she’s been subliminally taking shots at me, subliminally taking shots at the other girls in the industry and I mean come on, we read that interview where she said ‘Oh, being that the other rap chicks in the game ain’t got sh*t to do right now, when I’m by the pool, they can feed me grapes,’ I remember that sh*t,” Kim said in an interview. “I keep my ears to the street at all times. Just because I do my Hollywood thing and my Malibu Barbie thing don’t mean my ears ain’t to the streets at all times. The last thing she did that was very subliminal, ‘Oh, did I kill the Queen?’ and [Diddy] is sitting right next to her vibing with that bullsh*t. Come on, we ain’t stupid. Let’s go all the way back, when she started doing all my songs over. There were certain interviews she was doing and my fans were getting upset, because she was busting shots at me, actually she was throwing pebbles — it’s obvious I’m who she wants to be, it’s obvious that she likes me and wants to be like me but she’s not paying the homage. It’s obvious that she likes my music and that she’s trying to mimic what I’m doing, she’s subliminally busting shots.” (This Is 50)

After defending Minaj by calling out Kim at a concert earlier this month, Drake spoke on the rapper’s issues with his labelmate.

“Yeah I think the main thing for me was – and the reason I lashed out in that situation – was, because it wasn’t about me. And there are a lot of stupid things that other of rappers are going to try and rope me into. But at the end of the day, unfortunately, that’s not what pushes my buttons. You can say anything to me and I will not react to it. And even in that specific situation [with Lil Kim] when things start getting said about me, it lost its thrill. You know what I mean? My biggest thing was I don’t like when you talk about people I love. People that I know for a fact are working very hard and are very respectful people. I don’t like that. That pushes my buttons more than anything you can say about me. It was wrong for ever saying anything in regards to that situation and, as you can see, I left it alone. Its over at this point. You know, I’m not going to give somebody a “look” off that. The fact is, I see Nicki pay a lot of respect to a lot of emcees in the game and she’s just working hard, doing her thing. Other individuals who aren’t relevant get jealous.” (All Hip Hop)

At last night’s BET Awards, Minaj discussed positivity among all female rappers.

Minaj wrapped up her speech by shouting out BET Awards host Queen Latifah and thanking her for all the “positive energy” the Hollywood Jill-of-all-trades gave her before the show. Then, in what could be interpreted as a subtle nod to all of the drama between Minaj and fellow Best Female Hip-Hop Artist nominee Lil’ Kim, Minaj called for more love among the ladies. “I think it’s so important right now for positive energy among women,” she said. “I’m fighting for women.” And just so there’s no ambiguity in the future, she closed her speech by paying tribute to her female predecessors in hip-hop: “Thank you to all the female rappers that paved the way for me.” (MTV)
