[He is known as the Freestyle King and a long time member of Houston’s legendary Screwed Up Click pioneered by the late pioneer DJ Screw. This Platinum Vet out the South is still making noise droppin’ new music and doing shows. What many people don’t know is Flip is also into boxing and has friendships with the likes of Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Check out the Murder Master Music Show interview with Lil Flip and five top moments below!]

1. DJ Screw Naming Him The Freestyle King

I use to do a lot of battles in Houston and I would travel battling all these different rappers out of state. I met Screw in multiple places and once he told me “If you could freestyle, do it now!” And I did it and he crowned me the Freestyle King.

2. The Screwed Up Click

I had a feeling it would get big because we all were working and doing different things. Everybody went their own way, but we always stayed collaborating with each other. I was the youngest so I pretty much watched what everybody else was doing.

3. Remembering The Late Mr. 3-2

3-2 had that energy and I never seen him mad, he was always in good spirits. He always showed love if you needed him to rap on something or whatever the case may be. He just always had them good spirits. Rest in peace to my Potna!

4. Friendship W/ Floyd Mayweather

My favorite is my brother Floyd Mayweather. I met Floyd about 15-20 years ago when I was in Vegas doing a show. I was partying and I looked across the room and saw this dude with a big ass horse on their neck, it was the Ferrari logo, and I saw the bracelet and was like “That’s Floyd over there!” He came over and chopped it up and said “I use to ride around in my Bentley jammin’ I Can Do That!” Just the fact that he knew my music, my independent music at that. We always kept a close relationship. He invited me to fights and when he got different artists to stay in my city I make sure they are right.

5. Strange First Encounter W/ Bernard Hopkins

I can’t forget Bernard Hopkins who is my homie too! The crazy thing about Bernard is I was in Austin and I had an event and the promoter gave me my hotel key and I went to the room and somebody was in the room. I was like “Who the hell is this?” and they were like “Who the hell are you?” I was like “You are in my room”, and they were like “You are in my room!” and I looked over and it was Bernard Hopkins. That was how we met and we exchanged numbers and he brought us out to some of his fights and I actually brought him out. I walked him out and was performing in the middle of the ring. B-Hop’s new alias is The Alien because he stays in shape he has a body like a 20 year old.
