As Lil Boosie prepares to battle a 2009 murder case, the incarcerated Louisiana rapper’s mother and family have come forward to ask for the public’s support.
Boosie’s mother, Connie Hatch, has set up a website to help generate funds for him.
In an effort to rally support, Boosie’s family has created a Web site, www.boosiejustice.com, as an outlet for fans to speak out against the charges as well as donate money to his family. “[Lil Boosie] and his family ask that you to please take action now,” the site states. “Let yourself be heard. If you are part of a civil rights organization we want to hear from you.” (XXL Mag)
His attorney, Jason Williams, is also vouching for his client’s innocence.
“The D.A. is trying to convince the public that there’s a series of cases,” Williams said. “There’s one case he’s charged with. But that’s the level of injustice this office is going to to go after an innocent man. In the once case, there’s not a single bit of evidence that involves Lil Boosie other than the fact that he’s a young black male that did well in Baton Rouge.” (Hip Hop DX)
Last September, Boosie called the murder case a conspiracy.
“I’m innocent; I’m completely innocent” stated the rapper after he was transferred from Hunt Correctional Institute in St. Gabriel, LA to East Baton Rouge Paris Prison following the additional charges. “My situation is one that is unjust, unfair and based on an attack against hip-hop and rap as a whole. Even through these circumstances my family, labels and fans have stood by me and I thank you for that. My album Incarcerated comes at a real changing point in my life.” (Yo! Raps)
Last June, Boosie was indicted on murder charges dating back to October 2009.
Hatch was indicted in the October 21st shooting death of Terry Boyd. Michael Louding and Adrian Pittman are also indicted on first degree charges on Boyd’s murder. East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore says all three of the alleged killers meet the criteria of first degree charges. Moore said that the death penalty is not out of the question. Hatch and girlfriend Walnita Decuir along with a former Dixon Correctional Institute guard and an inmate were also indicted on drug charges. (WAFB News)
