Hip-hop mogul KRS-One has weighed-in on the controversy surrounding fellow rap icon Afrika Bambaataa amid recent child molestation accusations.

In a recent interview, KRS explained the difference between Afrika’s hip-hop career and personal life.

“For me if you keep it hip-hop, nothing can be taken away from Afrika Bambaataa,” KRS said in an interview. “Nothing. Just keep hip-hop. But if you want to dig into dude’s personal life and accusations that’s being made and so on. Personally — I don’t give a f*ck. Personally. Look, if somebody was harmed or whatever, y’all gotta deal with that sh*t. Deal with it. That don’t stop hip-hop. That don’t stop what you did for hip-hop. It don’t take away none of it. History is history. But deal with that. That’s personal.” (“Drink Champs”)

Recently, Bambaataa spoke out on the controversy and denied the molestation accusations.

“Peace. Peace and love to you, brother Ed and to the queen Monie Love. I definitely say this is false allegations that’s being put against me and a lot of lies. It could be me today and you tomorrow. I completely deny all types of accusations that’s being put against your brother Afrika Bambaataa. You have to ask the question, ‘Why now? What is the hidden agenda behind this?’ Is it because I’m still relevant today trying to help people across the world? Trying to start a hip-hop museum? … That’s been my life. Stopping violence and helping so many people all over the place. … My record speaks for itself.” (“The Ed Lover Show”)

39-year-old alleged victim Hassan Campbell spoke out against Afrika a few weeks ago.

It was the worst place to be because Bambaataa sexually abused him numerous times when he was 12 and 13 years old, Campbell told the Daily News. “He is a pervert,” Campbell added. “He likes little boys.” The men stepped forward after The News published a story last Sunday about former music industry executive and Democratic Party activist Ronald Savage, who claims Bambaataa abused him at least five times in 1980, inflicting deep emotional wounds. Earlier this month, Bambaataa spoke out against sexual abuse claims from former politician Ronald Savage.

“I, Afrika Bambaataa, want to take this opportunity at the advice of my legal counsel to personally deny any and all allegations of any type of sexual molestation of anyone,” Bambaataa says in a statement to Rolling Stone. “These allegations are baseless and are a cowardly attempt to tarnish my reputation and legacy in hip-hop at this time. This negligent attack on my character will not stop me from continuing my battle and standing up against the violence in our communities, the violence in the nation and the violence worldwide.” (Rolling Stone)

  1. Can’t believe I’d ever say this, but KRS-One is exactly what’s wrong with black people. Priorities are f’ed as usual. Music over our kids, right? Entertainment over harming your own? This faggot went after young black boys, and this coon is like “deal with it”. KRS officially has become the worst hypocrite I’ve ever seen. Fake ass pro-black shit. Foh. And if yall think a predator suddenly changes over time, I have a bridge in brooklyn to sell your dumb ass. KRS is scum. Bambataa ia a predatory faggot. F em all.

    • I hear you…..Basically what he is saying is that I don’t want to get into his personal business and I just want to deal with the Hip-Hop part of Africa Bambaattaa and I understand you want to preserve that, but if dude is wrong he’s wrong…….KRS-1, call it for what it is because its not a good look.
