West Coast rap newcomer Kreayshawn has finally announced the release date for her upcoming Somethin' 'Bout Kreay, a year after her infectious "Gucci, Gucci" anthem ignited her music career.
If all goes accordingly, her long-awaited debut should hit store shelves in August.
Last week marked the one-year anniversary of Kreayshawn’s “Gucci Gucci” video hitting YouTube, and now, 34 million clicks later, the Oakland rapper’s debut album has received a title and release date. “Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay” hits stores on Aug. 14 through Columbia Records. On Monday (May 21), Kreayshawn also issued the video for “Breakfast,” a new single featuring 2 Chainz. In the video, which Kreay directed herself, a wild breakfast party gets a little bit wilder when The Artist Formerly Known as Tity Boi shows up swinging two bottles of maple syrup in his hands. Last week, Kreay gave out the scoop on what guest features fans could expect.
The first bit of news is the self-directed video for “Breakfast” featuring 2 Chainz will drop this upcoming Monday. When the album comes out, she plans on putting special edition cassette tapes of the album, which will be limited to about 100 copies. She also gave us some details on who made the final cut of the album: “Basically everybody on the album, I f*ck with. I f*ck with their music, I f*ck with them personally.” Kreayshawn says currently they are about 15 tracks. Guest appearances are 2 Chainz, Kid Cudi, Chippy Nonstop, DB Tha General, V-Nasty and Sissy Nobby. Producers include Diplo (who is also featured on the track), DJ Two Stacks of “Gucci, Gucci” fame, Boys Noize, and Cool & Dre. Somethin’ Bout Kreay is slated for a summer release. (Complex)
In February, Kreay announced her long-awaited debut’s title after months of speculation.

The Bay Area rapper recently spoke on the perceived pressure of having a debut decked out with hits.
The album is almost finished, she says, and features a number of styles of music — from Baltimore club music to New Orleans juke. “I don’t really like ever doing the same thing twice,” Kreayshawn says. “Unless it was really good. Like if you eat somewhere really good, maybe you’ll go eat there twice.” The inevitable question is whether she can turn her “Gucci Gucci” fame into something long-lasting. Or whether she’ll end up another person of the viral video era whose 15 minutes of fame came and left. “If the album doesn’t have a hit,” Kreayshawn says. “I don’t care. I’m mobbin.’ I’m mobbin’ real hard. If something goes wrong, I’ll just take all my money and sell hella drugs. Then make a song about that.
