In this week’s Pulse Report, we’re going to quickly examine the connection between one of the Boston bombing attackers and Kobe Bryant, drool over Big Sean‘s juicy wifey showing all, well, kinda, raise our eyebrows over Tyga exposing the Young Money/Cash Money regime and oh SOHH much more!

1. Ain’t No Jigga Like The One I Got

How could two horrible events take place within a week’s time span. There’s no words that can describe how angry people, myself included, are over the Boston bombings. The worst part is whenever these situations happen, you ask yourself, “For what? What was gained?” Then you had Kobe Bryant go through his horrible incident too. As much as I hate Kobe Bryant, I have always respected his love for the game, and to see how hard he worked for the Lakers to make the post-season and then not to be able to take part in the luxury of the playoffs? That’s just cruel. Coincidentally though, both incidents had a very strange connection: Jay-Z. It seems that in each case, you saw a reference to the big homie Hova. Examine:

Boston bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev has tweeted since the Boston Marathon bombings on what friends of his tell CNN is his Twitter account. His tweets included one at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday that said, “I’m a stress free kind of guy.” On Monday at 8:04 p.m. — hours after the bombings — he tweeted a quote from rapper Jay-Z, “Ain’t no love in the heart of the city, stay safe people.” On Tuesday shortly after midnight he tweeted, “There are people that know the truth but stay silent & there are people that speak the truth but we don’t hear them cuz they’re the minority.” (WPTV)

And then…

But in the middle of the post … the Black Mamba recaptures his competitive edge and says he’s looking for the “silver lining” and wants to get back to work with the “same drive and same conviction.” Best of all … Kobe quotes the Jay-Z lyric — “If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey [sic] for the bear”. Ive always loved that quote. Thats ‘mamba mentality’ we don’t quit, we don’t cower, we don’t run. We endure and conquer.” There’s a lot more in the post, including how much pain he’s in … and prepping for surgery. (TMZ)

Is Jay-Z that influential? It’s actually a bit scary, thinking his lyrics can be found in the mind of one of the best basketball players in the history of the NBA (sorry Carmelo, it hurts me too) and in the mind of a suspected bomber?

I Loved Your Chick

2. I Loved Your Chick

Screw Big Sean! LOL. Well, not really, I have the upmost respect for him and what seemed like me kinda playing him for going with a wifey that didn’t really seem to have much meat on her body is not a complete joke. Naya Rivera is HOT! Forget a serious post, this is my ode to her.

naya

Miss Info: Big Sean’s new girlfriend Naya Rivera looks quite lovely in the latest Allure Magazine “Nude” issue…but man….that fiberglass Eames on a bare ass? Not comfortable. At. All. *squelch* From her Allure interview: Your character on Glee, Santana, has made you a sex symbol in the lesbian community. How does that feel? “It’s kind of cool–and it makes me feel like a badass. I get more girls than my boyfriend. They always tweet me about my booty.” You used to work as a Hooters waitress. Did you have nightmares about that uniform? “I have nightmares about that job, period. When I was working there, I was really skinny–a lot skinnier than I am now. But I was always self-conscious.” How did you get over that? “You can’t be so hard on yourself that you’re not enjoying every day.” (Miss Info TV)

SMFH. Can we clone Naya?

Moment of the Week

3. Moment of the Week: Tyga Exposes Cash Money/Young Money

I don’t care how many different ways you try to spin it, Tyga put Young Money and Cash Money on blast. For starters, how do you call yourself “Cash Money” and you’re not giving your artists cash? Tyga could have gone really reckless with this statement but he kept it very cool. I can’t believe he’s never received a check from Lil Wayne/Birdman except “maybe” a signing bonus. SMH. What type of rachetness is that? Even 5-0 Cent said he made Lloyd Banks and Young Buck millionaires. Now all of those rumors we’ve heard thanks to Mannie Fresh and Juvenile all seem to be true. This was a huge moment of the week:

“I never got a check from Young Money/Cash Money,” Tyga said in an interview. “But by me saying that, I’ve always treated my career like independent and everything that I got is because of myself, my own endorsements, me touring, myself. I think I got a signing bonus when I first signed but that was it. At a certain time, you get your money but at the same time, they pay for your videos and all that other stuff. But I never really was dependent on the label like that. I felt if I wanted to be independent, I could do that because it would be no difference. I would still tour, put out albums and still sell out shows.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Think about it, all those rumors we’ve heard about Drake wanting to leave, Lil Chuckee no longer over there, the former Cash Money rappers wanting to get paid? Can someone investigate this? LOL.

Mrs. Butterworth

4. Mrs. Butterworth: Amanda Bynes

I don’t care, you all can call me crazy but something about a crazy White girl has my attention. When you think about the craziest white chicks in movies, they tend to be scary sexy. Remember Domino? How about Lara Croft a.k.a. Angelina Jolie? Run LoLa Run? LOL. Well, even though I think she’s really on the loose end and acting on the verge of suicidal, I’m really drawn to the actions of Amanda Bynes. She used to be this really innocent young girl and now she’s talking about wanting Drake to crush her guts, going off on Kid Cudi and Complex Magazine and even calling Jay-Z ugly? LOL! Who does that? Here’s a little ode to this crazy White gal.

Smokin’ hot. Forget y’all! LOL!

Rappers Say The Darndest Things

5. Rappers Say The Darndest Things

Back to business. After putting A$AP Rocky in the “Dumb Dumb” seat last week, it’s back to business with the best five goofiest things said from your favorite artists. It starts with Young Money’s Shanell aka SNL. You look pretty sexy, boo, but trying to say you’re getting offered reality TV show money? LOL! Stop it. Drop an album first. Then it’s Freeway Ricky Ross commenting on Reebok/Rick Ross. Really, people? REALLY? What’s next, Ross’ corrections officer teacher? SMH. Some things just aren’t news-related. LOL. Rocko, you should watch your tongue before saying anything about Reebok not giving any love to Rick Ross. SERIOUSLY! Fox News….go figure. Finally, Juelz Santana, will you please trash your album and start fresh? Saying it’s going to drop “some day” just isn’t cutting it.

1. Shanell aka SNL

“We’ve been approached about that several times. I’ve tried to stay away from it but she’s open to it. For me, it’s just about getting the right people to put it together. A lot of reality TV has it pros and it’s cons. I just wanna make sure that when it comes to family we don’t have any wrong light shed on us.”

2. Freeway Ricky Ross

freeway-ricky-ross

“It is a sad situation, but we all have to be responsible about what we say in art and in life. Maybe this will be a turning point that brings a better awareness by artist of repercussions from consumers. The youth are listening and following us all as role models.” Always outspoken, “Freeway” Rick Ross also advises future endorsers in Hip Hop to properly assess who they are investing in so they are not blindsided by these type of preventable mishaps: “Endorsers also have to hold this high standard in evaluating who they use to sell products in our communities. They can’t just wait until a firestorm and react, they should evaluate their partners throughout the time of their deals.”

3. Rocko

rocko-rick-ross

“As far as the Reebok thing, I don’t think that was fair because what he brought to Reebok. People in my neighborhood, in my city, they’re back wearing Reeboks,” Rocko said about the sneaker giant and its popularity among rap fans. “It was a cardinal sin to wear Reebok before Ross started promoting ’em. Ross stepped in and he branded ’em and he got the urban market back in to ’em.”

4. Dana Perino

“Yeah, I was inspired. I was inspired earlier today as I was reading this. Rap is such a complicated form of music. So I gave it a shot. “Well my name’s Tiny D and I’m here to say, I bust funky fresh rhymes in a major way/So I’m white like Casper, got a dog named Jasper/And if you don’t think Beyoncé fears me, go ahead and ask her/So if you love Castro, stick with Jay-Z, but if you love you freedom, pick Day-P, that’s me.”

5. Juelz Santana

“Born To Lose, Built To Win, that’s what everything is pretty much gearing up to,” Juelz said in an interview. “Just pay attention, I told you, this is that free pay-per-view. [It’ll come out] probably fourth quarter. I ain’t got no date, definitely no date but you’ll start hearing music soon. I been working for a minute. I ain’t gonna say [I’ve been] out of commission, but I ain’t been doing what I’ve supposed to been doing for a little minute. So I’m just doing a little making up right now.”

***Weekend time! Forget all that, NBA PLAYOFFS TIME! I told you all that it’s time for the New York Knicks to go all the way and bring that title back home! It’s been a long time and with the East looking weak, yeah, I said it LEBRON, this is our shot at making a run. Get the catering and food numbers ready and enjoy some great playoffs games, y’all! I’ll catch y’all on Tuesday! –BB***
