Admitting he does not subscribe to the idea of making resolutions, Mike revealed a plan to begin releasing two albums per 12 months.

“I don’t make New Year’s resolutions,” Mike told SOHH. “I heard my boy Jay-Z say years ago, Jay said, ‘I don’t really make resolutions, I just make mistakes or make things right and adjust to them throughout the year.’ And I really took that to heart. I haven’t even made a resolution since. I just try to adjust through the years. But this year, my promise to myself is to put out two solo albums. Maybe that’s a resolve. Two solo albums. My whole sh*t is two albums each year throughout the rest of my career.” (SOHH)

When asked to elaborate on the two-albums-per-year goal, Mike stressed the difference between dropping multiple mixtapes and full length LPs.

“I’m dope, but I don’t necessarily do the mixtape circuit,” Mike added. “I believe when you rap about the sh*t I rap about, it’s not as disposable as some of the sh*t I hear on the mixtape circuit. Now I like the mixtape circuit. I jump on the records with people, I jump on mixtapes. I’m gonna do a few this year. But the sh*t that I rap about is ‘Thinking Man’ music. Not smart, ‘Elitist Man’. It’s [music] that’ll really help them use their mind. Whether they are dope dealers, whether they have a job, whether they’re college kids. My records, when I give it to a cat, he’s gonna ride that record five to six months. He’s not just going to ride 30 days in his car and then throw it out. A young woman [recently] hit me and said, ‘I listened to Pledge Allegiance To The Grind 2‘ for 31 straight days while I studied and took my medical school exam. That’s just a different thing from ‘D*mn Killer Mike I liked your last mixtape!’ That’s when the music has absorbed into a person’s life and lifestyle. So I think it’s more appropriate for me to increase the amount of music on the market for sale. Not just dropping 30 random mixtapes and talk about the crack I sold in the ’90’s.” (SOHH)

In late December, a snippet off Mike’s upcoming R.A.P. Music album circulated online.

While Killer Mike, aka Mike Bigga, fans waited to hear PL3DGE (I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind 3) the Atlanta native was also steadily putting together another project. And the world got a preview of what to expect on R.A.P. Music (Rebellious African People Music) when El-P leaked a snippet of the track they were working on together. As the intro to that leak made clear, it wasn’t the only cut El produced for Mike. And it actually turns out that it’s a collaborative album between the Mike and El. Although other details remain scarce on the project, they are expected to be joined on here by similar underground acts. (Prefix Mag)

The Atlanta emcee also confirmed the forthcoming project via Twitter the same week.

Killer Mike announced the collaboration, which is entitled ‘R.A.P. Music (Rebellious African Peoples Music),’ via Twitter earlier this week. “Me on an El P Track what’s realer?” Mike wrote. “Tapping in2 all my MC influences on the ‘R.A.P Music’ LP. U will hear smooth jewls dropped like Rakim & Nas & street spit like Face and G Rap.” (The Boom Box)
