Former G.O.O.D. Music rapper Kid Cudi is keeping the trend of unexpected music releases landing onto iTunes without warning going with the release of his new Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon project.
According to reports, the highly-anticipated LP popped up onto iTunes Monday (February 24).
Kid Cudi initially was set to put out an EP, but decided to change it last minute to an album. Continuing the trend of dropping projects without warning, Cudder releases Satellite Flight digitally on iTunes. The 10-track LP features Raphael Saadiq on “Balmain Jeans,” and rocks the rest solo. Cudder’s eye-catching artwork and ten-song track list surfaced online last week.
Kid Cudi has unveiled the cover art and tracklisting for his album Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon. The digital edition includes 10 tracks, with an appearance from Raphael Saadiq (“Balmain Jeans”). “This is just the digital release track listing,” tweeted Cudi, who designed the cover himself. “New jams will be added for the physical, kind of like a extended ‘Directors Cut’!” The Need for Speed star didn’t announce an exact release date, but previously said that it would drop sometime in February. Prior to dropping, the LP showcased only one guest feature.
1. “Destination: Mother Moon” 2. “Going to the Ceremony” 3. “SATELLITE FLIGHT” 4. “Copernicus Landing” 5. “Balmain Jeans” feat. Raphael Saadiq 6. “Too Bad I Have to Destroy You Now” 7. “Internal Bleeding” 8. “In My Dreams 2015? 9. “Return of the Moon Man (Original Score)” 10. “Troubled Boy” (Satellite Flight)
Recently, Cudi said the upcoming release would be his best work to date.
“It was supposed to be this mini little thing for the fans and it ended up forming a life of its own,” he told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. “I’m really excited because it’s my best work and it’s a surprise. People weren’t really expecting it. I was just on fire creatively.” He added that the album will be the perfect bridge between his last full-length project and the third chapter in his Man on the Moon series. “I just know that people are really gonna love this music [because] it’s perfect and brings them right back to the Man on the Moon theme,” Cudi said.
