Cudder said despite the difference in content, he feels his new LP is comparable to Dr. Dre‘s The Chronic 2001 album.

“That’s like one of the best hip-hop albums of all time,” Cudi said in an interview when asked why he compared his LP to Dre’s 1999 album. “Yeah. The way Dre did it, he put you into a space and a realm. Like, a n*gga from Ohio, like myself, hearing that sh*t, I felt like Cali was the place to be. You know? Just Dre’s whole thought process, how he’s just so thoughtful, from the beats to every little meticulous sound and I was inspired by that. You hear that in my production.” (“Los Angeles Leakers”)

Although no longer on G.O.O.D Music, Cudi made sure to still add Kanye West to his top four favorite producers list.

“My favorite producers are as follows: Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Kanye West. You know what I’m saying? That’s my four. And then of course there’s my family Plain Pat and Emile who are f*cking phenomenal. They eat humble pie every f*cking day they wake up so you’ll never get it out of them but those mothef*ckers are genius. They had to be to f*ck with me in the first place.” (“Los Angeles Lakers”)

The hip-hop artist’s new solo effort is slated to possibly debut atop the sales chart next week.

YOUR ONE-DAYS: Fall Out Boy and Kid Cudi will battle for the top spot on next week’s chart. Here are this week’s key debuts: Fall Out Boy (Island/IDJ) 140-155k Kid Cudi (Republic) 140-155k Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Interscope) 30-35k Andy Mineo (Reach) 30-35k Olly Murs (Syco/Columbia) 14-16k (HITS Daily Double)

The LP fell victim to a significant online leak last week, which prompted him to put the project out earlier than expected.

Kid Cudi’s third solo album Indicud has sprung a leak before its April 23 release date. The 18-track release features interesting collaborations including A$AP Rocky (“Brothers”), RZA (“Beez”), Michael Bolton (“Afterwards”) and Kendrick Lamar on “Solo Dolo Part II,” which fans are already buzzing about. Production comes courtesy of Cudi himself on many tracks as well as buzzy producer Hit-Boy. (RapFix)
