Pop star Ke$ha has made a serious change to her music alias with a new name spelling and reports claim it is solely based on a recent rehab stint.
According to reports, the dollar sign removal represented her pre-rehab life.
Sources connected to the singer tell TMZ … she wants a fresh start after her 60 days in rehab for an eating disorder, and the moniker she uses in her name reminds her of her “old self.” So from now on, it’s simply Kesha. We’re told she’s spending a lot of time with a therapist who will continue what she calls a work in progress. Kesha is also following the advice she got in rehab — get rid of the negative people in her life who contributed to the problems in her life that led to the eating disorder. (TMZ)
Kesha made her first tweets since mid-January Thursday (March 6) night and via a new Twitter page.
“Happy to be back! Feeling healthy & working on tons of new music????I can’t thank my fans enough for all the love & support u have given me,” Kesha tweeted March 6.

Some reports speculated the singer left her problems and dollar sign alias behind.
Two months after entering a Chicago facility for an eating disorder, it looks like Ke$hais out of rehab, back to work and, from the looks of her Twitter account, devoid of her signature dollar sign. In addition to dropping the dollar sign, the Warrior singer also changed her Twitter handle from @Keshasuxx to the more demure @KeshaRose — perhaps a reflection of her more positive view on life post-rehab. Buzz behind the 26-year-old pop star checking into rehab surfaced online in early January.
The Tik Tok singer said in a statement provided by her spokesman Friday that she’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days while she seeks treatment for an undisclosed eating disorder. “I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice,” she said. The 26-year-old vegetarian pop star said she wants to “learn to love myself again, exactly as I am.” No other details were provided. (USA Today)
