Top Dawg Entertainment’s Kendrick Lamar knows it’s much deeper than rap. The hip-hop superstar is officially the soundtrack of this year’s NBA playoffs.
Since the playoffs started Saturday (April 15), TV viewers have been blessed with K. Dot’s infectious “Humble” single during promos.
The NBA playoffs have a history of iconic theme songs, from “Roundball Rock” when the games were shown on NBC, to the ABC/ESPN era with Pitbull chanting “PLAYOFFS” in a remix of “Timber” with Kesha. This year’s playoffs theme song is (objectively) a lot better than what’s been in played in years’ past: you’ll be hearing Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” a lot for the next two months. It’s a cleaner version, given that it’s on broadcast television, but having that song be the theme is an automatic win for the NBA. (SB Nation)
The NBA playoffs start tomorrow at 3 ET on ABC.

This weekend, model Karrueche Tran quoted K. Dot’s “Humble” with a steamy af bikini pic.
This week, hip-hop mogul Diddy publicly praised Lamar’s new DAMN. album.
“Kendrick’s bearing his soul on this album. I don’t want to hear nobody sh*t that ain’t bearing their soul. If you ain’t telling the truth or bearing your soul, don’t make no motherf*cking rap records. Don’t make no god d*mn R&B records. Don’t even get on the motherf*cking mic unless you’re ready to bear your soul and tell the truth, man. That boy got soul on him man. I’ll be waiting for months. You know the dope sh*t I’ve heard? I’ll sometimes be waiting years to hear dope sh*t. That’s why I’m so god d*mn excited. This sh*t is dope. People are making dope albums. Drake’s album’s dope. Rozay’s album’s crazy. Now this? I just love dope sh*t.”
