Top Dawg Entertainment star Kendrick Lamar isn’t wasting his time worrying about his long-awaited sophomore album not living up to the hype and discussed how he is approaching the LP. #WhatPressure
Instead of bottling his concerns, K. Dot said he is most focused on enjoying the journey
“It’s not really pressure,” Kendrick said in an interview. “I just keep the same instinct, doing what I feel, that makes me feel good at the moment. It’s really more excitement to get back in the studio and really do what I do. Nah, I don’t really feel pressure. … I’ll probably know exactly what [the title] is when I’m done with the music.” (93.7 The Beat)
Back in March, TDE head Anthony Tiffith promised projects from his camp, including K. Dot’s LP, were in the pipeline.
“@justsza Z 4.8.14, @abdashsoul ,@jayrock and @kendricklamar coming soon be patient…#TDE #0XYMORON #CilviaDemo OUT NOW!,” Top Dawg tweeted March 20. (Top Dawg’s Twitter)
A month prior, Tiffith said the long-awaited LP would arrive in September.
In 2014, TDE hopes to lock and load its most ambitious slate of releases: Rashad and the label’s first nonrap signing, New Jersey-based female singer-songwriter SZA, will be coming with albums, as will original team members Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. Tiffith indicates that TDE is planning to release a new Lamar album this coming September, too. (Billboard)
Recently, Lamar revealed the only collaboration he wanted involved singer Erykah Badu.
“Who will you collaborate with in the future? I’m really tight on collaborations, I always say Erykah Badu, that’s it for now, that’s always in the back of my mind. (I-D Vice)
