Along with Dr. Dre and Pharrell Williams, K. Dot said he keeps a close-knit bond with his Top Dawg Enteratinment production team.

“Everything’s really in-house,” K. Dot said when asked about the album. “Of course Dre but I really stick with four producers I’ve been working with since day one. I don’t really go outside of that box. Sounwave, Thundercat, Rocky, Tae Beast, you know, these the cats I’ve been developing with since I was a teen, you feel me? So I always keep it like that and keep my sound as organic as possible.” (Hot 97)

Music industry celebrity Scott Verner recently dished on a new Lamar track on social media last week.

A few weeks ago, Kendrick revealed he would like his next album to arrive before 2014 ends.

“I’m hoping to push it out before 2015,” Lamar said in an interview. “I’m gonna say that. I’m working hard in the studio. … When I go into creating an album or any type of song, I usually cut off everything from the radio because you can easily be influenced from songs that you like, songs that you may not like. So I said, ‘I’m gonna go in the studio and I’m going to do what I feel organically without being confined to industry standards or what people assume that I should do.’ Because, at the end of the day, man, I’m an artist and I would hate to be stagnant.” (97.1 AMP Radio)

Earlier this year, Lamar said he received permission from music pioneer Ronald Isley for a sample on his new “i” record.

“I think music is universal. It’s an expression. No matter how it comes across, as long as it always remains you, that’s how they’re gonna respect it and they’re gonna have a connection with it. I got a chance to meet [Ronald Isley] and even got him on the ad libs for the record,. You can hear him. … I record a bunch of ideas and I really just sit and live with them until I feel like they got a potential of being a ten. Those be the keepers.” (“Big Boy’s Neighborhood”)
