West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar is giving Meek Mill some extra promotion for his upcoming Dreamchasers 3 mixtape after publicly calling out the Maybach Music Group member in New York City tonight (September 10).
According to reports, Lamar directly checked Mill during a Brooklyn performance.
While rocking the Williamsburg Park stage in Brooklyn Tuesday night (Sept. 10), Kendrick Lamar returned fire on Meek Mill for his Cousin Terio-influenced “Ooh Kill Em” diss track, a direct response to the Compton MC’s explosive “Control” verse. “I been doing this shit for years…I mastered this shit,” the Cali native said, according to a series of All Hip Hop tweets. “I have no time for irrelevant niggas [or] new niggas. There’s one nigga in particular that needs to realize that there’s ‘levels’ to this s**t. I’m MOTHER F**KIN’ KING KENDRICK.” (Karen Civil)
Prior to reportedly deleting the tweets, Mill struck back at Kendrick’s public comments.
The self-proclaimed King of New York isn’t backing down from Philly’s own, but Meek had a few words of his own after he got word of the onstage diss. “King of what?” he responded via Twitter. “Cuz I’m the only nigga coming thru the streets with the baddest bitch in the game on my bike…with a 100 hittaz and army tanks behind me!” Grab the mics, gentlemen. It’s what hip-hop fans have all been waiting for. (Karen Civl)
This week, Mill spoke out on releasing his “Ooh Kill Em” Lamar diss record.
“The day I dropped it was the day I finished it,” Meek said, explaining why the response was a bit delayed. “I’ve been working on my mixtape, Self Made Vol 3. and trying to get music for my album so I didn’t really have time just to focus on dis raps. … “Kendrick made a statement where he wanted to be competitive, so I made it competitive,” Meek added. “It’s a lot of people who he said their names but a lot of people like to play chess and poker, etcetera, and I’m just having fun. I could do that all day, so I just wanted to start it off and let him know — let’s play. I like having fun, I love to rap, so it’s fun to me.” (MTV)
Meek’s highly anticipated diss track surfaced across the Internet over the weekend.
He gave fair warning with the title of his vicious diss record towards Cassidy, now Meek Mill goes for the big dogs with another response “Ooh Kill Em.” Over a remixed version of Dr. Dre‘s “Forgot About Dre,” the Phily MC takes aim at TDE general Kendrick Lamar for his lyrics on Big Sean‘s “Control.” Along with “I Be On Dat,” and “Kendrick You Next,” expect Meek’s latest record to appear on his upcoming Dreamchasers 3 mixtape hosted by DJ Drama on September 29.
