Troubled comedian Katt Williams is reportedly a wanted man in the state of Washington with reports claiming an arrest warrant got issued today (December 12).
Details of Katt’s latest legal woes surfaced online early Wednesday.
Katt Williams is officially a wanted man … because a Seattle judge just issued a warrant for the comedian’s arrest. Katt didn’t show for his arraignment today on assault, harassment, and obstruction charges stemming from his bar fight in Seattle on December 2nd. TMZ broke the story … Katt was arrested following the fight, during which he allegedly threatened a bar manager with a pool cue … and threw a cigarette at a woman. A rep for the Washington State Attorney’s office says Katt’s attorney was there, and claimed his client didn’t attend due to a “medical issue.” That excuse didn’t fly with the judge … who immediately issued the bench warrant. Reports of what allegedly went down with Williams’ Seattle bar fight came to light a couple weeks ago.
Officers were called to the World Sports Grille near 9th Avenue North and Westlake Avenue around 2:30 p.m. to investigate a report involving Williams and a bar patron. According to the Seattle Police Department, Williams, who was in town to perform a show at the Parmount Theater, exchanged words with patrons at the bar and brandished a pool cue at the bar manager. Williams also allegedly flicked a cigarette at a woman in a car. When officers tried to arrest Williams, he allegedly struggled and refused. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault, harassment and obstruction. (Q13 Fox Seattle)
A police spokesperson also provided details on the incident following his arrest.
“During the incident Williams exchanged words with patrons in the bar, brandished a pool cue at a bar manager and refused to leave the business,” Spagenthal-Lee said. “At one point during the altercation, Williams followed a family outside of the bar where, as the family got into their car, Williams flicked a cigarette through a car window at a woman, striking her just below her eye. Williams also threw a rock at the family’s car.” (Seattle Pi)
Prior to a denial from his management team, Katt announced his retirement from stand-up comedy earlier this month.
“I’m just gonna go ahead and announce my retirement from stand-up,” Williams said in an interview. “I’m kinda done. This is, yeah, I’ve already discussed it with my kids. I wasn’t really gonna do it on a Seattle street, I was gonna go to Los Angeles and do it in the offices of ICM or Live Nation.” (KOMO)
