Troubled comedian Katt Williams caught a break after a series of headline-making incidents have surfaced online dating back to last year as reports claim he no longer has to worry about a felony child endangerment case.
According to reports, prosecutors did not feel they had enough evidence to land Williams behind bars.
Williams caught a break in that case and will not face criminal child endangerment charges, even though a marijuana stash and guns were present in the home while his kids were living there. The Los Angeles District Attorney decided that the case against Williams wasn’t winnable for a few reasons: “First, Katt insists his kids couldn’t get at the guns because they were locked up. On top of that, there were so many people living in the house there was no way of tying Katt to the marijuana — and reasonable assumptions don’t count.” Reportedly, Katt Williams will soon be appearing in court to receive an informal warning and get some counseling. The stand-up comedian initially got arrested in late December on the child endangerment charges.
Katt Williams was arrested Friday for allegedly endangering his 4 children … TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … LAPD cops picked Katt up at his Woodland Hills home this morning, after an investigation from the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services concluded there were numerous guns and illegal drugs in the house that created a safety hazard for the kids. (TMZ)
Prior to posting bail, reports claimed he faced a slew of charges.
Our sources say … during the arrest various items were seized. Katt is still in custody … being held on $100,000 bail. As for the kids … authorities have placed them in protective custody We’re told the case will go to the D.A. next week for possible felony child endangerment charges. (TMZ)
In late 2012, Katt ran into a bunch of publicized legal woes including an altercation with a now-former Target employee and Subway restaurant incident.
At the start of the month, a video of Williams slapping a Target employee before escaping on an electric cart went viral, and Williams said that the incident occurred because the clerk used a racial epithet to refer to him. (In late November, the comic was also involved in a police chase.) Before the child endangerment arrest, Katt Williams was also implicated in a bar brawl, kicked out of a hotel, detained by police at a Subway restaurant, and it was revealed the stand-up also was hit with a $4 million tax lien.
