Kanye West’s Role On “The Cleveland Show” Revealed, Starring As “Kenny West”

Kanye West‘s involvement on upcoming animated sitcom, “The Cleveland Show,” has been confirmed as the rapper recently completed voice-over sessions in California.

The Grammy-winning producer reportedly worked closely with the shows’ producers.

Kanye capped off a week of work at FOX in Los Angeles Thursday (March 12) by sitting in on a table read of new series. spent three hours in the studio Friday laying down his voice as not-so-mega-star rapper Kenny West. “Before we came to the table there was only one line he didn’t love and he came up with another idea and in a completely modest, nice way said, ‘Would you mind if I changed just this one line,'” executive producer Richard Appel said. “And our feeling was, how many raps have we written? One? And how many has he written? Be our guest!” (People)

Buzz about the rapper’s involvement began to circulate last week.

Various hip-hop sites have been reporting that Kanye West will be making a guest voice appearance in the upcoming “Family Guy” spin-off “The Cleveland Show” due to hit FOX in September. In Kanye’s rumored appearance, he will be playing Kenny West, but no details yet on who Kenny is or what he does. We’ll have more info. as it comes in. “The Cleveland Show” already has a stellar voice cast with Sanaa Lathan playing his wife and Nia Long as his daughter.” (Wooha)

The show will be a direct spin-off of popular “Family Guy” character Cleveland Brown.

“The Cleveland Show” is a new animated series following everyone’s favorite soft-spoken neighbor Cleveland Brown (voiced by Mike Henry) to his hometown in Virginia, as he settles down with his high school sweetheart, her unruly kids and his 14 year-old son, Cleveland Jr. (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson). Along with his guest spot on the show, Ye is also executive producing a black version of the Muppets with Rhymefest.

“It’s kinda like black comedy but it’s got so many other cultural puppets in it and it’s going to be about the hypocrisy in our culture,” Fest previously told SOHH. “It’s kinda like ’30 Rock’ and ‘Saturday Night Live’ put together..The show is about these puppets that are trying to put on this sketch parody variety type of show and you see sketches and pieces and bits but you also see behind the scenes them just trying to get to work.” (SOHH)
