Alexis Phifer, ex-fiance of Grammy-winning rapper/producer Kanye West, has publicly reflected on her life without Yeezy and explains why she will never date another emcee.
Phifer expressed her feelings on dating while in the public eye, and said she never looked to gain fame and fortune from her relationship with Yeezy.
“I believe that you get what you want out of a situation and Kanye will tell you, that I didn’t [want that attention],” she explained. “It’s weird. I’ll get on the red carpet and over-criticize myself. I don’t want that attention. [West’s ex-lover Amber Rose] wanted that and that’s what she got out of it. But if I want to go to King magazine [Ed Note: This interview was conducted prior to Amber Rose’s June 2011 King cover] right now and be in a sexy bathing suit I’m sure I’d generate some type of interest. It’s just the decisions you make that put you where you are. She is where she’s at because that’s where she wants to be and I’m where I’m at because that’s where I want to be also.” (VIBE)
No longer with Ye, Phifer said she does not envision getting romantically linked with a rapper in the future.
“I don’t think I would date another rapper. I don’t foresee it,” she added. “I mean, I don’t know, I guess it’s like, you never want anybody to judge you, so if the right rapper came along — but even Kanye was kind of a different type of guy. He wasn’t your typical rapper. He was just different. And there aren’t a lot of guys in that field that are different in the way that he was. The reason why I even gave Kanye my number was because he didn’t seem threatening.” (VIBE)
Recently, New York radio host Angela Yee talked to SOHH and suggested Ye should get back together with Phifer.
“Kanye West, he tends to be very public with his relationships but I’m sure it’s hard not to be because he’s always in the public eye [and] everyone cares so much about who he’s dating,” Ang told SOHH. “If I were him, I might try to get back together with the woman that he was engaged to, Alexis [Phifer]. It seemed like he had his own thing going with her as far as the modeling and designing. She never really got caught up in the whole ‘celebrity’ [ideal]. She still has never really said anything about him. I don’t know what’s happened to her, but he needs somebody who knew his mom and maybe [she] would be a good one.” (SOHH)
No longer with his fiancee or model Amber Rose, Kanye West recently revealed his romance woes.
“I’m a hopeless romantic and I’m looking and trying to decide who the mother of my child will be. It’s not going to be based off a whim of being in love; she has to bring a certain level to the table. I want to be married, I want that super-dope counterpart, that one woman, but she has to be super-fresh, super-smart and not overwhelmed by her career. I’ll find her, maybe I’ll be 38 … maybe I’m not fully who I am yet, maybe that’s why I haven’t found her … The main quality is that you know that this person will ride or die for you. Whether she’s mad at you, whether she’s with you or nor, she still loves you, she stills bigs you up in any circle. She doesn’t talk down about you to other people.
