Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West shocked passengers aboard a Delta Airlines flight a few days ago by performing records on his trip to New York City.
Reports claim Yeezy performed two records from his Late Registration and Graduation albums.
What reads like a deleted scene from Kanye West’s 2005 video, “Touch the Sky,” Yeezy recently put on an impromptu performance for passengers on a Delta flight from Minneapolis to New York City. According to Web site, Hollywood Life, the Louis Vuitton Don, who was seated in first class for the November 5 trip, recited “The Good Life” and “Gold Digger” for unsuspecting travelers. (XXL Mag)
A detailed description of what went down was also given by a witness.
“I had to pass through First Class to get my seat in Economy, and I saw Kanye sitting there with a little drink in his hand,” the passenger recalls. “I wouldn’t have even thought it was him, but he was sitting with a very PR-looking lady.” Needless to say, everyone freaked out when they heard Kanye’s voice over the loudspeaker 30 minutes later. “He was like, ‘Yo, this your n***a, Kanye,'” the passenger says. “Then he couldn’t decide if he wanted to do ‘The Good Life’ or ‘Gold Digger,’ so he was like, ‘I’ll just do a little bit of both.’ It was awesome… but I still have no idea how he got into the cockpit.” (Hollywood Life)
Aside from the performance, Ye also popped up at last weekend’s MTV Europe Awards.
Ironically, West also surprised the audience Sunday at the MTV Europe Music Awards by jumping onstage with 30 Seconds to Mars for a “Power”-“Hurricane” mashup. (Don’t worry, the band knew he was coming.) “This wasn’t even last-minute, more like last-second,” Jared Leto told MTV News. “Literally a day and a half ago, he was in New York and he got on, literally, the last flight, he made it out here.” (E! Ye is currently preparing the release of his new album, Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
“I wanted to take it back to the essence, like the soulful people who brought knowledge–like RZA and Q-Tip. At a certain point, you need to find a better way to do it; it’s like people [inbasketball] who dunk and hurt their wrist and come down on their knees too hard. Your knee’s gonna give out at a certain point. Some of my social and public-persona knees are starting to give out. I still want to run the games. I’ve just got to not get kicked up quite as hard.” (Vanity Fair)
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is scheduled to drop Monday, November 22nd.
