Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is not scared to show off his love for his soon-to-be baby's mother Kim Kardashian by offering up a few words for her at last night's Met Gala gathering in New York.
According to reports, Yeezy attended the fancy event with Kim K and showered her with some kind words during his live performance.
In a set that reportedly featured songs from his as-yet-untitled new album, West took a moment at one point to say, “Don’t let nobody bring you down, you’re so awesome, you’re so awesome!,” according to a Vine video posted by model Coco Rocha. Reports from the event indicated that the comment was meant for Kardashian, who has been the subject of ongoing tabloid ridicule during her pregnancy. (MTV)
He also used last night’s spectacle to show off another leather skirt, months after he donned one at a New York concert.
In another clip, West, who took the stage in a leather skirt, sparkly Givenchy top and studded, gauzy mask, can be seen performing what sounds like another new song with a uptempo, glitch techno vibe and a song in which he yells, “I am a god!” West told the crowd he would only be singing new songs during the set, though in a snipped uploaded by model Jamie King he can be heard singing the hook from the G.O.O.D music hit “Clique.” (MTV)
Monday evening’s gathering also featured high-profile celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Frank Ocean.
Beyoncé was the belle of the ball in a black-and-gold Givenchy haute couture gown, topping off her regal look with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci also dressed dad-to-be Kanye West and his pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian, while Frank Ocean and Madonna joined them at the Givenchy table. Nicki Minaj sported curly blonde hair and a blue gown, designed by Tommy Hilfiger. To thank her for her support, the designer gifted her with a Rolex earlier in the day. (Rap-Up)
Recently, Kim K talked about how much support Kanye gives her in light of negative media attention.
“He also gets so defensive,” Kim added. “He’ll call and say ‘Who’s saying mean things?’ And I’m just like ‘Don’t worry about it. I’m so used to it.'” (EXTRA)
