Taking place yesterday (June 18), West denied being involved in Knight getting shot at his pre-MTV Video Music Awards bash in Miami.

At the deposition in New York on Friday, West allegedly refused to offer any information to Knight’s legal team during the six-hour proceedings and denied he had any involvement in the security arrangements. Knight’s lawyer, Marc Brumer, tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, “He basically put his hands over his head and didn’t say anything for six hours. He evidently doesn’t know anything about anything, despite the fact that he hosted the party. (Contact Music)

Knight said he was upset about the lack of progress they made.

“I figured I could sit him down, man to man, and get this resolved,” Knight said after the six-hour, closed-door session at a Fifth Avenue office. “I’m disappointed.” “My whole thing is: I’m not here to put nobody behind bars,” Knight said Friday, saying he mainly wanted to put the specter of rap-related violence to rest. “It’s time for more positive now,” he added. The rap mogul believes West is responsible for having poor quality security at his 2005 event.

In 2005 MTV hosted the music awards in Miami where Kanye West was throwing a party at the luxurious Shore Club on Miami Beach. An unnamed gun man came into the party and shot Knight in the leg. Suge Knight, who has promoted some of the biggest names in the rap industry in the 1990’s has come across some financial troubles in his personal life. The arguemnet is that Knight will file a law suit against Kanye for the lack of security at the party. The lack of security let in the shooter creating a situation where the bullet that hit Knight shattered his femur costing him over $200,000 in doctors fees. (All Voices)

A winter trial date was originally announced last April.

More than four years later, Knight is claiming in a lawsuit that West and the Shore Club’s owners failed to provide security necessary to keep out people with weapons. Knight’s attorney, Marc Brumer, said Tuesday that Knight had $200,000 in medical bills from a gunshot that shattered his femur and will seek total damages of well over $1 million. “He’s an icon in the music industry. He walks in a room and he lights it up,” Brumer said. “He had an expectation of security there. How someone came with a gun into a very VIP party, that just doesn’t meet the smell test in life.” U.S. District Judge Patricia Seitz has scheduled a Dec. 6 trial date in Miami. (Billboard)

No further details have been revealed as of now.
