Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has responded to animated television series “South Park” and its latest spoof portraying him as an overly egotistic entertainer.
Shown Wednesday (April 8) night, the 30-minute program focused on Ye’s inability to comprehend a simple joke due to his own sexual orientation-based paranoia.
The plot of last night’s episode had something to do with Jay Leno starting a joke that everyone deemed the funniest joke in the world, except West doesn’t “get” it. There were also some gags about “fish d*cks” and “gay fish,” as evidenced by the excellent 808s & Autotune rip-off track performed by “Kanye” at show’s end. (Rolling Stone)
Speaking through his personal blog, Ye dished out his thoughts of the airing.
“‘South Park’ murdered me last night and it’s pretty funny,” Ye wrote unmodified. “It hurts my feelings but what can you expect from ‘South Park!’ I actually have been working on my ego though. Having the crazy ego is played out at this point in my life and career. I use to use it to build up my esteem when nobody believed in me. Now that people do believe and support my music and products the best response is thank-you instead of ‘I told you so!!!’ It’s cool to talk sh*t when you’re rapping but not in real life. When you meeting Lil Wayne in person he’s the nicest guy for example…I’m sure the writers at ‘South Park’ are really nice people in real life.” (Kanye West’s Blog)
Available online, Ye is reportedly the latest pop artist the hit animated series has targeted in the past month.
For the second time in four weeks, the boys at “South Park” have had some fun with our pop-music icons. After mocking the Jonas Brothers‘ empire, this week it was Kanye West and his alleged over-sized ego that was under attack. Entitled “Fishsticks,” the episode’s plot is based entirely around West’s inability to get a joke. When West fails to see the humor, his natural assumption is that he was the target of the elementary school prank. This, despite the fact that the joke is sweeping the nation. (Los Angeles Times)
Aside from addressing television spoofs, the rapper has begun new business ventures with a fragrance line and a new beverage.
GURU Beverage Co., a developer and distributor of 100% natural and organic energy drinks built on principles of wellness, health, performance, authenticity and living life to the fullest, today announced a product collaboration with international entertainment icon, Kanye West, to create a new product inspired by his own personal artistic vision.
