Instead of taking offense, Yeezy said he was impressed by Cam deciding to express his issues through rhymes and not worrying about the consequences.

“You don’t understand how much I love Dipset,” West told radio personality Funkmaster Flex. “Dipset are so necessary. It’s like when Jay-Z did ‘Death of Auto-Tune.’ That was a necessary moment. It’s people who completely don’t agree anything that I’m doing. But I agree with it so I’m gonna keep doing it. What makes that such a great hip-hop moment is that you have to be expressive. What do you feel? Don’t think about the political, whether or not I can do a beat for you or what that would mean. Just express how you feel — people are not gonna agree with everything I do. I look back and look at stuff I do and don’t agree with it. If I made a diss record of myself, I would kill me. I would be extremely good at it…I use to spit my verses at Baseline (Studios), and just to be able to spit a verse in front of Cam was such a big deal to me and just for him to appreciate any of my lines coming from where I came from.” (Funkmaster Flex)

On the track, Cam accuses Kanye of dissing former Roc-A-Fella owner Dame Dash.

Jim Jones and Cam’ron leaked a new song today (September 15) dissing Kanye West over the instrumental to “Runaway,” a song Ye premiered this past Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards. On the track Cam spits, “Kanye you a sucka n*gga/Dissed Dame [Dash], so my attitude is f*ck the n*gga/Stuck to Jigga. How you gon’ live with that? Took the beat, now come get it back.” (XXL Mag)

Cam later came forward to speak about the record.

“I ain’t have nothing to say,” Cam told radio host Angie Martinez. “Only thing I’m gonna say is a lot of people talking about I dissed Jay. I didn’t diss Jay on the song. I didn’t diss Jay on that song at all. I didn’t say nothing about Jay. I haven’t diss Jay in years. I don’t have a relationship with Jay-Z or nothing but I’m from Harlem. I respect people getting money. Jay gets madcake. I respect his hustle, his grind, so a lot of people saying I dissed Jay, I didn’t diss Jay…I ain’t got no problem with Kanye, man. I lied about something?” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)

Dipset’s Juelz Santana also said Cam’s issues primarily rested with West.

“Now even on the radio he hasn’t gotten into the issues that he has with Kanye, I’m not gonna give you the issue because maybe it’s something Cam wants to tell y’all himself, but you know, it’s not that serious at the end of the day…Cam’s always gonna be Cam. If he’s got something on his shoulders and wants to get it off, he’s gonna say it. But it’s definitely not something super serious where there’s gonna be a lot of time or energy wasted on the situation like that…Kanye, don’t even take it like that. Maybe just holla at Cam. Do that. It ain’t that serious….” (Vlad TV)
