Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West made sure to air out his issues with the media last weekend by taking direct aim at outlets for judging his character.
During a live Anaheim, California concert, Yeezy explained his biggest problem with media publications.
“You know sometimes I hear in the media and sh*t – they try to say I got a big ego,” Kanye said during a concert. “They call me arrogant. Well tonight, I want to explain to y’all just how arrogant I am. I’m so arrogant that I think I can actually outsmart the media. One of the media’s main things they’d like you to think is that the reason that I fight so much is just so I can, like, be doper or some sh*t. Or like, I can be cooler or some sh*t. Or like so I can buy a new car or some sh*t. But I don’t give a f*ck about looking cool.” (YouTube)
Yeezy also used the opportunity to tell concertgoers they inspire his decisions.
“I don’t give a f*ck about being dope. I was dope since age motherf*cking five. I don’t give a f*ck about [that]. I know where the leather jacket store is. … But they try to make it seem like my whole purpose in anything that I do and anything I say in any interview, is about me. But, where I think I have them outsmarted is, what they don’t realize is and what I think you all realize is everything I do is actually abotu you.” (YouTube)
In a mini-rant days prior, Ye questioned why his Yeezus summer release could have been embraced by so many music critics but only receive two Grammy nods.
Where’s the Grammy love for Kanye?! At least that’s what the egotistcal rapper is asking. West performed in Phoenix Tuesday night, and during one of his onstage rants, the artist complained about only receiving two Grammy nominations this year-one for Best Rap Album, and the other for Best Rap Song. A paranoid West complained to the audience”And Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list but only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?” I don’t know Kanye-maybe there’s a massive anti-Kanye movement going on or something. Seriously, bro, relax! (RumorFix)
