Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West recently updated fans on the status of his upcoming projects, notably a follow-up to last summer's Yeezus album and a delayed Cruel Winter release.
According to Yeezus himself, plans to put out another G.O.O.D Music compilation keep getting delayed due to timing.
“I haven’t named my next album but I’ve started on it,” Kanye explaiend in an interview. “I’m collecting, I’m just constantly working. [Cruel Winter?] We think about it. I go back and forth on it but we keep on missing the winter. [laughs] That’s the only problem. [It’s here now,] but the album ain’t. [laughs] We think about dropping a Cruel Winter and I like to put out more product, I’d like to have another album out by next summer. I’m going to go into the studio as soon as we leave here. I got this remix that I did with Miley Cyrus.” (Power 99 FM)
Ye also did not dismiss the idea of eventually getting out a Watch the Throne 2 album alongside close pal Jay Z.
“Yeah, we’re constantly working but we haven’t made any songs for it yet,” Ye added when asked about a Watch the Throne 2 album. “But, you know, we’re going to see what’s going to happen. I’ll tell you, my main focus is to get this product line out and it’s going to come out next September.” (Power 99 FM)
Last summer, G.O.O.D Music’s Pusha T, admitted there were too many individual albums from the camp to make Cruel Winter a realistic release.
“Nah man, we’re not doing the Cruel Winter album or the Cruel Summer sequel,” Pusha revealed in an interview. “There’s too many projects going on. Like I said, you got the Yeezus album, you got Hall of Fame from Big Sean, you got my album, My Name Is My Name, you got 2 Chainz project, like, once we get all that situated, then I’m sure [it might happen]. I mean, you even got Common coming. At this time, right now, we’re not working on no compilations, man.” (Power 88)
Back in February, G.O.O.D Music’s Big Sean promised the compilation would eventually drop.
“Yeah, I hear it’s coming,” Sean said in an interview with radio host Jenny Boom Boom when asked about the LP possibly being delayed indefinitely. “I don’t want to spill the beans. I’m pretty sure, I’m pretty sure you’re gonna get it soon, sooner than you think. You know, who knows? It’s gonna be an awesome project and like I said, you’re gonna get my project, you’re gonna get Pusha T‘s album later on this year, Teyana Taylor‘s album, Common.” (“Jenny Boom Boom”)
