Days after the Internet heated up with buzz about Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West naming an upcoming solo album Rich Black American, new reports suggest the entire fiasco was a hoax.

According to reports, the album title hype started courtesy of a Yeezy fanatic.

Apparently, a user named XXXXXX started a thread in the forum of the Kanye West fansite KanyeToThe.com and posted the photo with the fake iTunes track listing. After some mathematical research, the site’s administrator, RatedK, was able to identify this person as a guy named Matt Closson, who tagged his final posts in the forum with @mvttclosson. Upon further inspection, we stumbled upon hisTumblr page, which is littered with photos of Yeezy and hip-hop’s “It” rapper A$AP Rocky. Nevertheless, we all feel duped but not necessarily upset. Coincidentally, a day after the buzz, Kanye hopped onto his Twitter page and seemingly sent a subliminal message.

“Authenticity,” Ye tweeted February 5, nearly two weeks after his previous Twitter post went live. (Kanye West’s Twitter)

Speculation on the new LP title circulated online Monday (February 4) morning.

The internet is going nucking futs right now after a screenshot from an iTunes page appeared, showing not only the album name of Kanye West’s next release, but also the track listing, some guest artists and a ball-park release date of 2013 – which may be vague, but still more than we’ve ever previously known about the album. Though it hasn’t been confirmed, Rich Black American sounds like the sort of album name Yeeze would be using these days, not to mention that it fits in perfectly with the naming motifs from College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation. Some sites claimed he had initial plans to use the title “Black American Psycho” for his follow-up to 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy LP.

The US singer apparently contributes vocals to a song titled ‘Whole Lifetime’, while Welch appears on a track called ‘Popular’. Frank Ocean and Pusha T seemingly feature on a track titled ‘Faith’, while Big Sean and Skrillex will be on ‘Need Somebody’. Online sources claim West’s new studio album is coming soon, with some saying that the album was originally titled Black American Psycho. (Digital Spy)
