While brief in his tweet, Yeezy said rap pioneers Pete Rock and Q-Tip‘s sounds would be on the EP.

“Music is so fun right now… Hip hop is alive… The hip hop I always loved… an extension of what me and Jay did on BP3,” Ye tweeted Saturday (September 25).

“That Mobb Deep.. That Nas… That Wu… That Biggie… 94′ 95′ sh*t!”

“We got new Pete Rock Joints on the Watch the Thrown album… Q Tip joints… We bout to spit on this Madlib beat”

“We don’t play by radio rules… We come together as a family and give the fans what they need… Good Fridays” (Kanye West’s Twitter)

Late last month, Yeezy announced the forthcoming EP’s title via Twitter.

“Me and jay bout to drop a 5 song album called “Watch the Throne”,” Ye wrote Friday (August 27) evening.

“‘MONSTER’ ….. Happy GOOD Friday!!! The second song off of me and Jay album!http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/.” (Kanye West’s Twitter)

Both artists have worked on numerous records together dating back to West’s 2003 debut College Dropout.

While we’re still waiting to hear the result of that Jay-Z and Jack White collaboration, it’s been Hova’s work with Kanye West that has proved to be his most captivating partnership of late. If you need any evidence of why, then listen to the “Diamonds From Sierra Leone” remix, “Run This Town”, and the recently revealed “Power” remix. (Consequence of Sound)

Aside from the EP, Q-Tp recently talked about putting in work for West’s upcoming untitled solo album due out November 16th.

“This album is, in a good way, going backwards. He’s such an artist. He knows exactly what he’s doing. When he did [808s & Heartbreaks] that was such a departure from College Dropout. But now he’s stepping backwards so this album will be more of a sonic extension of College Dropout and Graduation but he’s doing it with a new attitude. He’s looking forward but reaching back, which is interesting. It’s a calculated toe in yesterday’s water if that makes any sense at all (laughs).” (XXL Mag)

A release date for Watch The Throne has not yet been announced.
