Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West‘s global rant tour continued into Amsterdam last night (February 28) when he placed emphasis on the overpowering effect of branding and how it impacts people.
Yeezy allocated his Amsterdam performance to briefly speaking on the importance of creativity all while rhyming over his “Clique” instrumental.
Another show, another rant by Kanye West. Tonight in Amsterdam, ‘Ye paused once again during his performance of “Clique” to give the crowd a piece of his mind, this time focusing on brands and creativity. Kanye rhymes, “A lot of people buy brands because of the pressure, because without the brands they feel lesser.” He also adds, “Creativity is the key to win the world.” (Complex)
A few days ago, Ye targeted corporations and promised to keep delivering content for his diehard fans during a Paris performance.
“There’s no motherf***ing awards or sponsorships or none of that s**t that can stop the dedication to bringing y’all that real s**t,” Kanye said. “No matter how they try to control you, or the motherf***er next to you tries to peer pressure you, or try to get the best of you, or see what you did and take the rest of you, you can do what you motherf***ing want”. Once he’d got his rant off his chest, the 35-year-old got onto important business revealing that he is currently working on his sixth LP. “I wanted to let you know, I’m working on my new s**t”, Kanye said. Prior to the Paris show, Mr. West lashed out at the Grammy Awards and name-dropped select stars like Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
“Taylor Swift beat Beyonce at the Grammys? Beyonce be dancing in heels and s**t,” Kanye said before launching a scathing attack on the Grammys: “We need the musicbusiness to be evened out and fair. I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist. I’m motherf***ing Kanye West, we can create a human utopia if we try”. (YouTube)
He also referenced Bey’s husband Jay-Z’s “Suit & Tie” while out in the United Kingdom in a corporate-targeted rant.
“Creativity fuels everything. I hate business people. People get on the phone with me and talk to me, you know, like, ‘What kind of business can it do, though? What type of business are you doing? What’s the numbers? How many did you sell? What’s the radio spins? How much shampoo do you sell with your face on it and sh*t?’ Remind, remind me again why we in this sh*t. Remind me again why we in this sh*t. Make it even more mellow, maybe even just the chorus — remind me again why the Grammys can suck my d*ck, remind me again who’s the original super fly/And I got love for Hov but I ain’t f*ckin’ with that ‘Suit & Tie’/Remind me again, remind me again why we in this sh*t/Remind me again, remind me again why we in this sh*t…” (YouTube)
